Yang Chow Fried Rice This simple dish is one of my favourites. My favourite are from the food stalls at Aberdeen Food Court, but sometimes it's a bit far to drive from downtown. Any places close to downtown or Vancouver you guys suggest that do a good job of this? I tried "Hot Delivery" on Cambie last night and they overcooked it and everything tasted burnt. :failed: |
if near dt go goldstone or hons in chinatown, i order this for the kids when were in van and those places are not bad for outside of richmond. |
How about Hon's on Robson? |
ahh I totally forgot Hon's. good suggestion. |
Haha hon's when you need that chinese comfort food immediately, their yeung chow hits the spot but high on the MSG. |
Cafe Gloucester Try to go during mini meal times. Regular price is pretty expensive compared to other cha chan tengs |
Personally I like Ken's Restaurant on Kingsway (close to Fraser), almost across from Dai Tung |
Boss or Maxim's in Chinatown might do a decent job. Congee Noodle House on Broadway is another suggestion. |
Even a complete noob like me can make this dish. Leftover rice + eggs + mix in whatever ingredients you want. Throw it in a pan/wok and done. |
http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...226-WA0001.jpg Before you go to Hon's, call to make sure they aren't still closed down. This pic was from the end of February so it's pretty recent. I was having Chinese food cravings during work and they were slapped with lots of papers on their front door... |
^LOL is that the Robson location? Called in for take out recently. They said they were doing renos. I guess it's for sanitation reasons. :lol |

I'll never forget the time I was driving behind the Hon's in Richmond, and was behind a delivery truck. The guy dropped a bucket of some sort of powder [salt or MSG or something] on the floor of the truck and proceeded to use his hand to scoop all the powder back off the floor and bumper back into the bucket, put the lid back on, and went about with the delivery. So the only surprising part to me is that it took this long for them to get shut down EleGiggle |
What about Kam's Bakery? Relatively close enough to d/t. |
gotta find a place with good "wok hei". can't be eating something that tastes like it was boiled. |

unless you've got a cast iron wok that was seasoned with 2 generations of constant cooking, you can't really replicate that flavour |
sure you can just season with a little lead, and let some canola oil burn in the wok for an hour |
Hon's?????:heckno: |
Drove by Hon's on Robson today and their Open sign was on. |
lol getting a hard on for yang chow fried rice?? shit tastes like plain rice |

Honestly I choose honeymoon fried rice over that any day. http://s3-media3.fl.yelpcdn.com/bpho...lzuYrnvQ/o.jpg |
You're comparing a wet/saucy rice vs. a dry fried rice, so...it makes it a bit of a moot point. |
Salted fish chicken bits fried rice FTW! |
