Vrbata's salary is only $1m this year... and including all bonuses so far he's still only at $2m, if the team makes the playoffs he gets another 500k
$2.5m isn't a bad deal for a 45-50pt vet, not to mention Coyotes can retain salary

that college rule is horse shit and should really be fixed
there should be some kinda compensation to the team that drafted college players who decide to remain in college and go to UFA
last thing we need is losing a needed blue chip prospect for nothing

that article on the province makes it seem like they want him to stay in college for one more year and bulk up/get stronger
twitter noise also makes it seem like he's got no interest in signing with Van but this is all noise and totally unconfirmed
either way, my hopes aren't very high on the Canucks landing him...imo, best move is to sign him now (after college season) and burn that year off his ELC cus letting him go back to college is a huge risk
