Honestly, that's the way I'm thinking too. Canada isn't the country that it used to be. It's a mess right now, and I can't see it getting any better. If this is how the Parliament wants to spend their last few weeks before summer break, it just shows that their priorities are in wasting time, rather than making change.

I don't really care that they changed the anthem, but it seems odd to me that it was deemed enough of a priority to be done right now.

Anywhere the anthem shows up will need to be discarded and replaced with a few words updated. Reprint, then dispose of the old shit. Not cheap. You know what that's like? Buying a textbook and then a new edition comes out that changes a few lines the next year and your fucking text book is worthless when you try and sell it back to the bookstore. How pissed off were you when you spent $130 before tax on that Organic Chem text book and the same date the year after you find that they can't take it back or they will only give you $0.50. I remember learning it as "and stand on guard, oh Canada, we stand on guard for thee". That line was changed to "from far and wide, oh Canada". Bryan Adams got shit on for singing the previous version once, which of course, was the version he grew up with.

The anthem has changed before. Guarantee it will change again. If you're gonna get bent out of shape every time it happens you're going to live a very sad life.
