Things were different back then. As kids, we had to read the bible and sing the lords prayer. Didn't matter if you were Sikh, Muslim, Buddhist, Jewish, etc.

It is, at least at the schools I've been to.
I think it was made mandatory a few years back. You can get the principal in a whole shitload of trouble if you report it to the ministry of education.
The ministry will tell the school district and the school district will freak on the principal. Unless, the school district doesn't give a shit, but they usually do, 'cause bad publicity.

What's really BS is that the anthem still says "We stand on guard for thee". What about all those people who can't stand? Those damn standers are just bigots who want to systematically oppress people who can't stand. If Canada doesn't change those lines, they're just promoting institutional standism
