Syrian family celebrates 1st Canada Day away from scars of war 'Thank you for much,' says 11-year-old Aziz Toubeh after celebrations on Parliament Hill By David Cochrane, Lisa Laventure, CBC News Posted: Jul 01, 2016 5:13 PM ET Last Updated: Jul 01, 2016 9:57 PM ET http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/cana...gees-1.3661635 Among the thousands of people gathered on Parliament Hill to celebrate Canada Day, some were there for the very first time, celebrating the start of a new life in Canada. The Toubehs — mother Wejdan, daughter Aziza, 11, and sons Wessam, 17, and Ward, 22 — have been in Canada since December after fleeing Syria's civil war. Their father, a welder, did not make it to Canada. He was killed in an industrial accident while working in Lebanon as the family waited to gain refuge. http://i.cbc.ca/1.3661698.1467408307...canada-day.jpg The Toubeh family arrived from Syria six months ago and Friday spent their first Canada Day on Parliament Hill. CBC News told PMO officials the Toubeh family would be on Parliament Hill. That led to a meeting with the Governor General and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, another first for the family. Aziza Toubeh was overcome with emotion as she tried to express what the day meant for her. "Thank you for my sponsor," she said, wiping away tears. "Thank you for much." |

For second it looked like an intro to big butts, fat asses. The irony here our state sponsored "mercenaries" traded women like these as trading cards. A few months ago in Iraq, sets of women were reported to have been burnt alive so as to teach the others to willingly partake in being a sex slave. Just history repeating itself. |

Bump......... for Canada's 150th. |
I'm working this Canada Day, but if anyone is interested Trooper is supposed to be playing at Rocky Point Park on Saturday. It's also Golden Spike days so expect a HUGE crowd if you go down (I recommend not driving, there's rarely any parking). |

Getting married on Canada Day..........so cool. |
Bachelor party this weekend to celebrate Canada's 150! Lol |
We're heading to Londsdale Quay. There's a bunch of Canada Day stuff happening throughout the day. It was a choice between downtown and North Van. Coming in from Langley, I think I made the right choice. |
If you're going to Canada Place for Canada day and you're driving, there's reasonably priced parking at 1128 West Hastings (Marriott) - $7 from 6-6pm or 6pm-6am and 1208 West Pender (Ritz) - $5 all day til 6pm. |
people will never forget people get married on canada day |
The one day I allow myself to put on the side mirror covers with Canadian flag on it. I have visors, so those flag holders that go on the doors are a no go. Happy Canada Day, RS. |
