Manic! 08-18-2016 05:24 PM

Di Grasse is running in 5 minutes.

fliptuner 08-18-2016 05:25 PM

Track is wet and it looks like they're still running.

MG1 08-18-2016 05:29 PM

Maybe the conditions are right.................

murd0c 08-18-2016 05:32 PM

all I know is I'm excited right now!!

MG1 08-18-2016 05:38 PM

Armind 08-18-2016 05:39 PM

HonestTea 08-18-2016 05:39 PM

GOLD FOR BOLT!

Silver for Canada!

murd0c 08-18-2016 05:39 PM

sliver is still something to brag about!!! So proud of being Canadian right now!!

pastarocket 08-18-2016 05:40 PM

The bromance continues for Bolt and Di Grasse. :troll:

Another silver medal for Canada! :fuckyea:

MG1 08-18-2016 05:43 PM

Bronze could have gone to any of three athletes.

Why is our guy disappointed?

MG1 08-18-2016 05:45 PM

And why are they saying the greatest Olympic athlete? I think Phelps should be right up there.

fliptuner 08-18-2016 05:47 PM

If Bolt runs in 2020, it might be a challenge.

HonestTea 08-18-2016 05:50 PM

Donovan Bailey's reaction while watching De Grasse race

I think its because olympic wise single race competition

Usian bolt got ALL gold on his run in the olympics 2008/2012/2016

Although Pelps has more medals its not all gold

There have been studies that showed athletes who win silver are oftentimes more disappointed than those who win bronze, because silver medallists don't feel like they won silver, but rather like they lost gold.

Why Bronze Medalists Are Happier Than Silver Winners - Scientific American Blog Network

^ I literally had that thought yesterday, and it makes a lot of sense. Bronze medals are often fought for with the loser going away with nothing; the stakes are high, and competitors will fight tooth and nail to get it. Silver, on the other hand, can primarily be looked at as a consolation prize. It stings more knowing gold was THAT close.

bobbinka 08-18-2016 06:36 PM

it's especially true for sports where the top two compete only to determine who wins gold, and then 3rd and 4th compete for bronze. here's USA in 2010 "winning" silver:

https://freezethepuck.files.wordpres...3/70590295.jpg

at least in things like running and swimming, all competitors in the final heat have a shot at winning any medal.

From his interview afterward, it sounds like De Grasse was more upset with himself for not running a better time.

MarkyMark 08-18-2016 06:42 PM

Bolt is the GOAT. We'll never see another runner go triple triple again in our lifetime. I'll be shocked if his 100m WR is broken in our lifetime either.

fliptuner 08-18-2016 06:49 PM

DeGrasse runs great but Bolt is a great runner.

Ch28 08-18-2016 07:01 PM

Bolt & Phelps are both GOATs imo

You can't really say one is better than the other when they both compete in completely different sports.

-good women's semi final in volleyball between China and the Netherlands.

I'm cheering for China but those Dutch girls are much prettier compared to the ladies from the mainland. LUL

Great skill on both teams.

Tim Budong 08-18-2016 08:39 PM

with team sports.. you win gold, you dont "win silver"
thats why you win the bronze

if that made any sense.. that picture of Patrick Kane sums it up when you play for gold and lose.

however, you look at Team Finland and Teemu Selanne from 2014 sochi.. the excitement on players faces because you WIN a bronze

?Where is clean sport?? Furious China 4x100m relay team edged out of final after USA reprieve | South China Morning Post

So Chinese team was edge out after USA team was allow a rerun BY THEMSELVES after dropping the baton. Picking on the Chinese aside how is this even remotely fair.

punkwax 08-18-2016 08:50 PM

They were allowed to run again because someone got straight armed by a Brazilian if I recall the story correctly. Basically held up.

They're not picking on the Chinese
