Missing New Westminster mom Florence Leung found dead
Quote:

A missing 32-year-old mother from New Westminster has been found deceased, according to a post on a Facebook page set up to help find her.

On the ‘Find Missing Mother Florence Leung’ Facebook page, a statement released Wednesday night reads:

It is with great sadness to tell everyone that Florence Leung has been found. Police notified husband Kim Chen and family earlier today of the discovery. We ask that everyone at the moment respect the family’s privacy and we will release more details as they become available. We thank you all for your prayers, love and support at this very difficult time.

Florence was last seen on the morning of Tuesday, October 25th when she left her New West home. A surveillance video discovered a few days later showed Florence buy several items from a convenience store in Vancouver’s West End.

Her vehicle was discovered in Stanley Park the day after she went missing, but North Shore Rescue later suspended its search after thoroughly combing through the surrounding areas, including parts of West Vancouver.

Leung, the mother of a two-month-old boy, was thought to have been suffering from post-partum depression.

Her husband Kim Chen had said he and Florence were very happy as they awaited the birth of their first child.

“We were married for two years. We always wanted to have children and build a family. And everything was perfect, everything was bliss,” he said.

Police have yet to confirm her death.

Been all over my facebook since she went missing. Pretty sad story. I've faced pretty severe depression but not like that. I can't even imagine what her family is going through, and what her final hours were like. RIP BibleThump

When the search and rescue team decided to stop their work after finding the car abandoned in Stanley Park, this is pretty much the result everyone was expecting as well as hoping against.

It is so incredibly sad. With the discovery and confirmation of the body, however, I can only hope it makes things a bit easier for the family to find closure.

Incredibly sad. The thought of a new mother's mind being tormented with intense depression that eventually lead to her death pulls a bit on my heartstrings. In a 2 year period went from bliss to tragedy. RIP

flagella 11-17-2016 05:06 AM

I really wonder what exactly lead to this. PPD is not uncommon but 2 years of happy life leading up to the birth of the child and went downhill so quickly in two months? How tragic and I feel sorry for the kid who'll never see his/her mom.

Tapioca 11-17-2016 06:58 AM

The family looked well off, so it's not hard to imagine a newborn throwing a damper into their lives. I know this first hand - PPD isn't something to mess around with.

Just sad. RIP.

ok, I read the 8 page thread and associated links (yes it's a slow day at the office) I'm still confused. What does this have to do with anything here? Is Dinosaur the wife and Gridlock the husband?
:fulloffuck:

p.s. I'd like the last 1/2 hour of my life back pls.

Armind 11-17-2016 09:48 AM

You don't thank Armind, Armind thanks you.

very sad story. RIP. :tears:

Mental health is just as important as physical health. There's been an 8 week campaign at my workplace. "Not Myself Today" campaign.

I didn't realize that there are many resources in the private and public sector which are available who are facing mental health issues like depression in their lives, either at work or outside of work.

-won a Color therapy anti stress coloring book to help improve my mental health. :D

Technically, they were not married so no, not husband and wife.
But yeah, Dino is the female and Gridlock is the dude.

And from what I see on FB, looks like the drama continues even after her death as shit is being thrown around between the husband and the mother in law.

Sad.

Is this a fact? So some of you actually knew these two in person? I find it kind of distasteful this is being discussed but curiosity is getting the better of me, sorry.

bcrdukes- since you seemed to be an impartial advocate: halp, pls. explain.

trollguy 11-17-2016 01:06 PM

wtf, are you guys all lost?

dino and gridlock are not the people in question in the news

Dino is simply the person who posted this story on REDDIT VANCOUVER. Thats it -- no other relation this story.

CivicBlues 11-17-2016 01:17 PM

Thank you, should have made a connection with reddit 'OGdinosaur' and 'dinosaur'. Don't mind me I'm just an idiot.

Armind 11-17-2016 02:24 PM

STFU bcrdukes
