Right now, Canadian streaming services are forced to charge sales taxes to their customers, but that isn’t the case for more popular internationally based sites such as Netflix or Amazon Prime.

buddy, its a god damn sales tax I've paid to since I learned how to spend money (ie. GST / HST) which is 5% and up to 15% based on where you live. Netflix IIRC is $10/month (5% is 50 cents). Now if your GST is going up to 20% then its just not netflix that's affected.
I assume you're in BC so unless you're paying 100k a month to netflix (and other streaming services) you're not paying 5k a month.
If they're putting a brand new netflix/prime/twitch/pornhub tax, I get the issue. But this is GST which is something you pay everywhere unless it's a cash only chinese restaurant
