How's the nvh (noise, vibration, harshness) on this new one ? I had a 2013 LX AWD crv before and had to get ride of it due to the horrible nvh inside the cabin. On the i-5 it sounded like you were sitting inside a cement mixer.

My wife drives a 13 CRV EX-L with nearly 80k. Her commute is 110km round trip all highway. No issues with NVH in ours but I know the I-5 can be punishing.

The only issue is it has always had a rattle at start up and will actually stall on first start in the morning. Need to get it diagnosed next oil change.

i was wondering this as well. i read an online review from the UK when it first came out over there and they complained about how noisy it was on british b-roads. the other complaint was that the suspension was too soft which resulted in poor handling characteristics (too much body roll).

The engine is a little noisy in the cold, but once warm keep it under 3k it's not bad. On the open road the car is quiet but my tester came with winter tires which gave the car a bit more noise than normal road tires.

Being that it's a CRV, I didn't push it as much as I did. Body roll was minimal and it drove pretty well, the suspension soaked up big bumps.

Stall? Thats really strange.

I think maybe the ex-l had more sound deafening materials than my base LX. My lx didn't even come with a passenger side arm rest.. talk about being cheap. The seats were also horribly unsupportive and felt like you were sitting in church pews (similar to my 16 Rolla right now).

If I buy another crv I would go for the ex-l. The base is too spartan.

I think the 2012-2014 CRV's had a TSB for vibrations at idle/highway speeds.

The suspension is soft and the body roll is more than I would like. My wife liked the way it drove so no complaints here. I drove the CX5 as well and it is much sportier. Of course it has a more firm ride and I felt like it had a more cramped interior.

The CRV made sense for our purposes.

Badhobz: Yep upon cold start up in the morning the revs will fall off and the motor stalls. Starts just fine 2nd time and after that. Agreed we wanted rims instead of the steel wheels, passenger arm rest and leather.

i really wanted my dad to get a cx5, but as you said the cramped interior was the deal breaker. basically took all his work gear out of his old forester and tried to stuff it into the mazda and... not everything made it in

cx5 is cramped for sure, but it drives a lot better. The best part of the 2017 model is the new materials that are used inside makes it a higher end vehicle than the Mazda name would suggest.

Hondas design has really taken a nosedive in the most recent model years. I guess they are being a bit more daring... But it looks awful

It looks like one guy designed vertical lights and another guy designed horizontal lights and they just mashed them together, then put a big chrome bar across the middle to finish it off.

That said the rest of it looks really good. I notice there's a seam going from the taillight down to the wheel well, hopefully that means that panel can be removed if it gets damaged. If that's the case it would be amazing, I've always hated how all the body panels on a car are replaceable except the rear fenders.

Loving the new CRV. They're selling like hot cakes especially the touring. The Gunmetal Grey Touring is sold out until May at my dealership.

Biggest complaint i get is the engine noise.

^ yea the engine is a bit nosiy in the cold. But once warm driven under normal condition it's not bad. When you push it. It does sound a bit trashy.

^ thats exactly what i mean. When you push the throttle its quite noisy but when under normal day to day driving its fine.

The 8ltr/100km fuel economy is unreal. Especially considering the fact that the HRV (CRV's little brother) gets the same fuel economy.

Economy varies, You CAN get 8L/100km if you're nice and light on the throttle. With moderate throttle and to keep up with traffic its closer to 10L/100km

That's still not bad! My old man drives around a lexus RX 400h and that thing barely gets 10L per 100km.

My old crv was around 11.5 to 12 on average. 8 would be unreal as even my ratrolla isn't getting 8 all the time.

Thats a given with any car.

I talked to a couple of my customers that have been driving it for a month or two and they said they achieve 8.7-9.5 consistently both city and highway combined.

Its just unreal for a AWD car with that much weight achieving 8.7 litres per 100k.

For comparison the Rav4 Hybrid is rated at 7.3 liters per 100k. The LX 2WD CRV is the same...

the best my dad has gotten with his rav4 hybrid is 8.4L/100km city with all his work gear in the back so yeah kinda impressed with the crv right now.

It's only impressive if the reported fuel economy numbers are calculated rather than
whatever is reported on the car's display. My wife's 2007 CRV's fuel economy shows 8.9L/100km when driving mixed highway/city driving, but calculated actual is closer to 10L/100km.

In 100% city driving, it shows 10.xL/100km, but actual is closer to 11-12L/100km.

I guess it varies on the Rav4 my friend has one and he says it gets about 7/100 on average.

I will be taking a day to drive around in it next week to see how it is. Will report back.
