Missing those Midnight Goldens back in the day
Kam Do was the first HK cafe I went to in Richmond. My gf (who I have now been with for 20 years!) dropped me off there when she went to class at Kwantlen. That's where I discovered the glory of Baked Cutlet Pork Chop on Rice, and theirs was still one of the best I ever had. | Silver Tower still going strong.

i prefer maxims over the boss in chinatown
lido is good, but expensive, and have to read chinese or know what you want to order before you go if u dont read chinese
happy cafe is good before 11am for the breakfast menu, egg, fruit, french toast and noodles

Kam Do was probably the best .. $10 and you get toast, large drink, soup and entree ( was really big too )
Now I just go to Silver tower (most consistent)

I heard Silver Tower no longer offers paid refills, you use to be able to pay like 50cents for another cold milk tea refill.

sorry but how do ppl suggest angel cafe?
not sure if you guys are chinese suggesting angel cafe but ive been to plenty of hongkong cafes and angel cafe is the bottom of the bottom
dirty as fuck interior, food is garbage, place is old and outdated, nothing special about anything!
went there in high school like 10 years ago and started questioning the restaurant.....
went there to bring my mom a couple years ago, was bad...
went there couple months ago as a last resort because of the location and said to myself never again
please if anyone wants to try it and never been, do NOT go

In fact, I'd almost say the somewhat oily / greasy floor is kind of like a hallmark of HK tea restaurant / cafes.
As far as food goes, taste-wise, I'd say it's par for course. But their portions seem quite generous to me. In fact, I'd say their 3-piece choose your own item has the most generous portion of any tea restaurant that I can think of.

Speaking of dirty/greasy floors. We all talk up Kam Do, but are we all forgetting how that hallway to the back parking lot was like walking on ice every time? It was so greasy they should be giving out medals to everyone that manages to make it through without incident. Oh, and their bathroom sinks, like c'mon, it's been leaky for years!! I still miss Kam Do.

For an HK/chinese cafe, greasy floor is the norm. The utensils are also sometimes greasy or unclean. You have to clean the utensils with your cup of tea, like the outdoor cafes (dai pai dong). I don't know if it's on purpose or maybe it's a tradition brought down from China.
As long as the food and milk tea is good, I don't care.

Swung by Happy Day today on Kingsway/Joyce for their breakfast. A+B for $8.95. Pretty good stuff - I think I'll go back again (I live nearby).

Kam Do was the best bang for buck at the time imo
Too bad they got out of the restaurant business
The owner ran for Richmond City Council and lost, now opened up Kam Do plaza but no restaurant or anything... Looks like just land they lease out... Plus the bakery by the shoppers drug mart
