London Bridge Attacks (no not that one, a new one)
6 dead, 20 wounded at this time.
Didn't see a thread on it this. Given how often these attacks happen, perhaps they aren't new thread worthy anymore? Maybe there should be an all inclusive thread to discuss such attacks. Suggested title: Annnnndddd It's Islam
It's a shitty thing to die by the hands of gutless cowards with no real MO except 'muh religion' but I wonder how many people had Afghan flags draped over their FB photo when this happened?
According to Quora 1400 people die each day in the UK, and I'm sure many of those are in equally horrible ways yet nobody is talking about the other 1394. Obviously any loss of life is unfortunate, but even these "more frequent" attacks are such a tiny risk in the western world, yet the fear of them is massive. I think the relative lack of "success" at causing casualties compared to what happened in Afghanistan indicates people that are violent with or without a group to claim allegiance to, but that's just me.

^ well that's exactly what terrorism is... a small group instilling fear in a large group so they are able to push their agenda and build power.
Nothing is more fearful for the general populace than the idea of random death. Those other 1394 deaths probably weren't random, they were from old age, disease or accidents.

That's what I'm saying, people are letting it be successful at instilling fear even though the actual risk is very small.

Are accidents not typically pretty random? The number of people who died of other causes unexpectedly that day was surely much higher than 6.

The reason people don't talk about random crazy people randomly killing people is because they don't have an organized cult telling them to do these things. Obviously mental health is an important issue and if we "cure" it, we won't have as many problems with this. So that's the overall issue.
With religious terrorists the issue is there is an organized group taking these mentally sick/mentally challenged people and turning them into killers. Unlike the random crazy people shooting up a crowd, it's not random, it's planned in advance. IMO that makes it a pretty big difference.
The thing is, do you take "action" and extreme measures like the UK PM is talking about? Or do we just wait until humanity can naturally move on from these ancient cults that separate us into these needless groups hating each other? And then, we needs to happen before the rest of the world becomes enlightened?

Eh I would say the random psychosis killing people have something they ascribe to and someone they listen to
Like that psychopath that killed 2 (almost a 3rd) who were defending the two girls on a train. Or that psycho that went into the black church and murdered all those people
It's all a problem, and all of it involves mentally unstable suspects, but instead of addressing the bigger problem many people just like to find the easiest excuse so they can either ignore the situation or attack a minority group.
This is because people either don't care and want to feign interest, so they find the easiest method to do so, or they do care but they're too stupid to see the bigger picture.

So you think there is an institution that has existed for hundreds of years going around recruiting these people to kill those who don't agree with them?

There is no institution in Islam tho... and all these different terror groups haven't existed for hundreds of years they're just using/twisting something established to manipulate the mentally ill
Just like these other mentally ill being manipulated by neonazis or kkk or the "altright" they're using tired old arguments to manipulate the crazies

I just found out I knew Crissy, the Canadian killed. How sad. I went to College with her and my buddy dated her twin. Not super close but she was part of the friend group thats for sure. Man that hits close to home.

You don't need to be mentally ill to be manipulated, it just takes a state willing to push their lies over and over. One could argue that literacy rates are also subjective to how people may be 'manipulated', though these shameful terrorism acts truly do push to the side of mental illness.

The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” - Goebbels

That is sad, especially when you hear about what kind of person she was. These terrorists are probably too naive and narrow-minded to understand what they are doing. Taking away the lives of loved ones and people who make a difference in this world. These terrorists, are the worst of the worst. Very selfish and very, very weak-minded. To be brainwashed into thinking they are doing god's work. Is their life that pathetic that they do senseless shit like this?
Thanks, hud 91gt, for bringing this up. Sometimes we get a little numb hearing about all these tragedies day in and day out...........stories of the victims. They are not just empty faces.

I didn't fall for anything, thanks for your concern. The point being that anyone can be indoctrinated with a belief was what was being discussed and what I illustrated - regardless of whom wears the rose coloured glasses.
