He's not as bad as kes but they both wanted to go as soon as the team wasn't performing.

I rather retire bieksa. That guy was willing to go down with the team and stayed loyal

I don't know... IMO, that shafting in the Heritage Classic was pretty bad. To be honest, a part of my enthusiasm as a Canuck fan died that day and I haven't been the same as a fan since.

According to Botchford the Horvat deal is a bridge deal

The 9 - noon slot battle between the Kurtenbloggers and Sat will be an interesting one, because both stations have legit good radio people in that time slot.

The 3-7/4-7pm slot will be another close one. Smart move by 1040 to start their show an hour early and hope that listeners just continue to tune in for the rest of the show because they've already 'invested' an hour into it. Price/Sekeres combo is pretty good listening on the evening drive home, but Scott Rintoul is also another really good local born radio personality. I find him to be one of the most level headed guys in this entire lineup. Time will tell how well he does with Andrew Walker.

Jmac 09-01-2017 12:22 PM

Fuck Walker, but Sekeres and Price can be too full of themselves, so not an empty net. Either way, much better than Taylor, BMac, and Moj talking about nonsense.

pastarocket 09-01-2017 12:55 PM

Who is Jawn Jang? :considered:

What happens if Shah and Jang have a program segment where they take calls from listeners who want to ask a guest some questions?

Some callers call and ask questions in Cantonese/Mandarin. :lawl:

Canucks sign Vanek to 1 year $2M deal

murd0c 09-01-2017 01:37 PM

So Thomas Vanek just signed with the canucks 1yr 2 mill...

highfive 09-01-2017 01:40 PM

More picks for the deadline!

cdizzle_996 09-01-2017 01:43 PM

I don't mind it.

Better then the Loui deal lol.

68style 09-01-2017 01:51 PM

I don't really feel this one, we have a massive glut of forwards that will be trying to make the team next month and now Vanek is basically guaranteed one of those spots... are we a rebuilding team? Or are we trying to win now? Signing doesn't make too much sense to me.

Nabatron 09-01-2017 01:52 PM

Signing of Vanek shows that management does not think some of the young guys are ready...or they just want to make the young guys earn their spots and not just given to them.

Nabatron 09-01-2017 01:57 PM

^signing vanek isn't going to mean they are going to win now...just maybe try and stay competitive and help the pp. Only 1 year deal so not that bad...

6o4__boi 09-01-2017 01:59 PM

not a bad deal tbh

i'd laugh pretty hard if he outperforms Loui by miles

I think that'll be one of the things I'll be looking forward to seeing this season.

murd0c 09-01-2017 02:09 PM

I think that's a smart call, make the young guys earn the spots and if not they can play for the Comets and get the ice time and experience they need. I think its a fantastic thing they are not trying to rush them.

Not only that this will be perfect for trade deadline deals

Jmac 09-01-2017 02:47 PM

Vanek put up 48 points in 68 games last year, at least 40 every year since he came into the league. He's never been a great skater (and moreso now with age) and he's never been a solid defender, but he's still one of the best net-front guys in the league. Hopefully Gadjovich can pick a few things up from him in camp.

snowball 09-01-2017 02:53 PM

Seems like Vanek fits with the others who had similar stats before coming here...

Eriksson, Vrbata, Booth, Demitra (RIP) are some that come to mind.

Hopefully he does better...

EmperorIS 09-01-2017 03:41 PM

Man with the Vanek signing, Utica Comet sure got a good team going.

Nabatron 09-01-2017 03:55 PM

make them young guys earn the spots I like it. Hopefully Vanek pulls a vrbata and puts up some points..

a little excited to see what the lineup will be. does vanek and gagner get thrown onto sutter's line? and then we get a bae, bo, boeser line?
