I think Benning should see this through. Last thing we need is a new GM that trades prospects away cause they don't fit the new vision. We all know/keep saying you build a winning/championship team through proper drafting which is what Benning is doing. I feel a new 2 year deal should suffice. That's enough time for most of these new prospects to make their way into the lineup and that's when we will see if this new drafted group can make the Canucks relevant again. Also to be fair Benning stepped into a shit show of prospects. Gillis went all out to make the run trading our picks and such and Benning pretty much had to fix our prospect pool

Granlund out indefinitely, needs ankle surgery.

I won't personally notice... he's had his moments here and there but in general he's been pretty abysmal this season from a points production perspective. I supposed we still won that trade though... lol...

I don't get it. It's not like the Sens are saving a ton of money offloading dion.

Honestly, as much as we shit on the Aquilinis, we can always have Melnyk. lol

I went to look at Phanuef's salary on capgeek and noticed Canucks being in top 5 in salaries. We've been having shitty attendance but the owners are still willing to pay. I'm glad money is still not an issue so far.

bobbinka 02-13-2018 05:56 PM

yea, after the 25% salary retained, they save like $1mil.

i guess it's committing to the tank

More than likely the Senators will trade Gaborik for anything at the deadline to save more money.

Would have been a huge blockbuster... 10 years ago.
Now it's just a swap of 2 really bad contracts.

Question, would you trade Loui Eriksson for either of these?
As much has been made about him not living up to his contract. It looks pretty good compared to those 2.

Jmac 02-13-2018 10:20 PM

Dion fucked Ottawa hard :lawl:

Refused to waive for the expansion draft, they lost Methot (who Dallas picked up for next to nothing from Vegas), then waives 50 games into the season so they can acquire another terrible contract in exchange.

Plus Mrs. Phaneuf gets to go back to LA.

At this point, I'd trade Eriksson to Vegas for David Clarkson's ghost.

There’s a sloppy seconds joke in here somewhere but I’m too tired to put it all together

Tim Budong 02-14-2018 04:09 AM

Alexei Yashin is in the CBC panel for the USA/Slovenia game lol

whitev70r 02-14-2018 07:08 AM

How did the Sens get so bad so fast? Taking lessons from Oilers?

Mike Oxbig 02-14-2018 08:27 AM

Sens always had a good group of players how do they always manage to let them go?

Is the owners really that cheap?

whitev70r 02-14-2018 08:48 AM

Is Burrows regretting the trade?

murd0c 02-14-2018 09:14 AM

Benning just signed a 3 year contract extension... Thank fuck god. I was really starting to get worried.

Glad Benning re-signed. His trades have been 50/50, free agency has not been good, but his drafting is likely going to save the franchise if he keeps it up. And the other choices for GM if he wasn't re-signed are not any better.

Mike Oxbig 02-14-2018 09:46 AM

Benning is building a 2006-07 buffalo sabre squad

I don't think his trading is this bad.

History of hockey trades by general manager Jim Benning - NHL Trade Tracker

I think we put too much weight on the Sutter and Gudbranson trades. Depending if we trade Gudbranson or not, we may land equal or more than what we got.

cdizzle_996 02-14-2018 10:34 AM

I have a feeling Vanek will be heading to LA.

Kassian and Forsling are 2 that stand out to me. Not make or break deals but we could use both.

There's no way we will get a 1st, 2nd and 4th back for Guddy. We will be lucky if we end up with a 2nd.
