We arrived in Prince George yesterday. Very smoky here and poor air quality. It has improved this morning.

Lots of evacuees here so it is busy. Seems like business as usual with few line ups for food and gas.

We are hoping highway 5 stays open for our next leg down to Kamloops.

Anyone know if the fire ban also include indoor fireplaces? Going to a cottage this weekend and there's a indoor fireplace to warm the cottage up. But not sure if the ban is specifically for outdoor fire pits or not. This is only if the rain stays, not during the warm/sunny days..

The 2 fires closest to Kelowna this summer, the one in Okanagan Center (Winfield) and one on the weekend on Knox Mountain (literally in the middle of Kelowna).... the RCMP are saying both were arson.

WHAT THE FUCK is wrong with people

You should be fine unless some big fires flare up in the heat wave this week.

We came through hwy 5 (past Wells Gray) last week on our way from Prince George to Kamloops. No issues at all. Just a very busy 2 lane hwy since highway 97 is still closed. No problem on the Coquihala either

Little Fort Complex was burning between Kamloops and Wells Gray on hwy 5 but it has just been removed today as a wildfire of note.

I drove Stewart > terrace > PG > Valemount > Kamloops > Vancouver last week. Traffic was much higher on the 16 and the portion of the 5 heading past kamloops towards the alberta border (detour around the 97). But it was no real issue, just be patient and be careful passing campers and trucks, I saw lots of people taking stupid risks. Also cops are out on that road enforcing the speed limit, I saw a couple traps.

In terms of fires and visibility I there was nothing to report, business as usual when I passed through. Although things change quickly.

On that note it had been years since I passed through barriere, quite the site to see now 13+ years after the fire they had their and seeing the remnant still around. A lot of the 97C corridor is going to look like that after this year I guess.

Happy to be home, Williams Lake man fined for setting off fireworks: RCMP - British Columbia - CBC News

Fuck this is some magnificent form of stupid, even for Williams Lake residents. FFS.
