We finished watching the last episode. It definitely got a lot better. The mid-season finale was awesome.
We're finally watching the last 2 episodes of Voyager. We held off on watching it for a couple weeks. It was just too sad to end such a great series. Season 6 and 7 are incredible, and have a lot of memorable episodes. I rank Voyager below DS9, but it is a very close second.
they better bring back lorca -- he was the best thing by far in the series!!
last episode was meh. there have been some missteps but i do really enjoy the series still. lots of moments where you have to just turn your brain off, and enjoy it as a show though.
whats with people saying they like voyager though? i'd rather sit and watch grass grow rather than have to watch that crap.
Really? What didn't you like about Voyager? I found it to be quite good. Especially when they run into the Borg. They had the same effect for the TNG series as well.
The only Star Trek series I couldn't really get hooked on was The Original Series.
Spoiler!
I felt like how they killed off Lorca tied really well into the story of a multiverse. As a character it was hard to see him go, he was such a bad ass.
I really like how the story is progressing with the Kingon war. As well as using Terran tactics from Georgia to crush the Klingons.
I also really like how they tied in Sarak. After watching all 7 seasons of TNG in two months, he really is a familiar face to see.
I'm halfway through the first episode... there's something a bit off in regard to the way him and the girl meet... not enough said between them and the dialogue is halting / a bit awkward, doesn't match with his whole "I want to be retired and private and never grant interviews" persona... but the overall feel of the show I'm enjoying so far.
Spoiler!
Already had one obvious political moment with the whole Romulan racist bit......... I really really really hope they don't use any further scenes in the show as a platform of any sort

Get used to it, political commentary is pretty much what Star Trek is all about
They did it in a much less obvious way before... or maybe media tainted it for me cuz right away it drew me out of the show and into a "There's a little fuck you from Bezos to Trump" line of thought, kind of distracting.
I'm loving the ideas around the Data storyline and Patrick Stewart... not loving the girl's interactions with anyone so far... not sure if she just got some particularly bad dialogue or if she's just not a good actress. I have a feeling she'll get more comfortable once the story fleshes out though.

I don't want to spoil it for you, so I'll just say watch the full episode before deciding on what you think of Dahj
I do agree 100% that they need to watch it with the political commentary on today's politics. Especially keep anything "Trumpish" fucking out of it. Discovery season 1 was bad that way
So far so good. Great seeing Patrick Stewart again in live action. Story so far is intriguing, but still too soon to make a judgement call as to the quality of the show. Too many unanswered questions and weird things out of place:
- FNN - racist interviewer wtf? Imagine a CNN reporter qualifying it as "Muslim Lives" on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and subsequent war in Afghanistan. That's how stupid she sounded.
- Rainstorm in Boston - what happened to weather control?
- Picard waking up in his own home after a huge fight/explosion at STARFLEET freaking Headquarters
- Data already HAD a daughter....she was named Lal.
p.s. who tf watches half of a 40 minute TV show and logs in to comment about it on RS?
^
I was watching it on my laptop and paused it because I needed to take a shit, and taking a shit made me think of you on Mount Kilimanjaro, which then made me think of RS, which made me pull out my phone to check RS...

I think the weather control system is only used to prevent massive storms, and maybe to provide a "perfect" Earth environment, not necessarily to have complete control over the weather like on Risa. Besides, it has to rain sometimes!
and AFAICT, these are Data's "biological" daughters, I think created by Maddox (the same guy who tried to have Data disassembled in one of the great episodes of TNG). His "DNA" was used to create them. They acknowledged Lal in the show, did they not? Anyway, this will be explained in more detail I'm sure.
As for Picard waking up at home after being injured by an explosion at Starfleet... I dunno maybe it was like a week later?
The first few mins, I thought I was watching X-Men... lol
Sometimes, I gotta take off my thinking cap and just enjoy... like why send people to get the girl? Get a lock on her and beam her into a holding cell, so much easier... lol I used to scratch my head whenever I saw Data use a tricorder or fired a weapon... Soong built an android and didn't think to build those things into Data?
Still, it's Star Trek, it's Picard... I love it.

Thinking back more, the only real part I have a problem with is that I’m not so sure how Romulan assassins are able to just beam into major city areas on Earth at will with weapons... seems like a bit of a security problem lol... but hey I’m sure they will explain that somehow going forward

Come back and ask the question after you've watched the first half of the next episode.
On one hand you'd think they'd be all about healthy choices, on the other hand they probably have the technology to fix whatever you fuck up in your body, so have at 'er!

True but in other series they looked at smoking as being absolutely disgusting and stupid
Seems like the writers thought: Oh the captain is "cool" so we better having him smoking, since smoking is "cool". Except it's 2020 and I think most people think smokers look retarded and desperate, not "cool". Could be wrong though
People need to enjoy the real stuff sometimes and relax... lol... how many times have you seen crew pull out real alcohol from their own private stash? Besides, they're supposed to be able to cure things like cancer with light.
