I used to do that a lot, as well. My mom gave me heck for it. It's called, "poor man's shake." Superstition? Maybe meant you were going to become a beggar? Who knows........... I've stopped doing it after a while. I see my eldest son do it a lot. I just let it slide. Once in a while it's so bad, it shakes the car when I give him a ride.
Speaking of involuntary movement, there's this old asian dude who's at the seniors home where I volunteer. He continually thrusts his hip forward like he's humping a dog. I mean he can't help it, I guess. He sits in his wheelchair like that and at the dinner table. The rest of him looks like he's not there. Maybe he's in lala land boinking Miss Hong Kong 1917.
Try put your entire foot on the ground and not just the toes part, it will stop. It's a natural physical reflex that everybody has it.
i eat alot of shit with my hands at home and restaurants. Fuck how everyone thinks its improper, I wanna enjoy my food easily and eating it fast. At the end of the day, wash your hands or wipe it, the food goes down to ur stomach.
I hate having to struggle with tryin to pick shit up with forks, chopsticks, spoons and splatter shit everywhere. Fuck society, damn sheep

You can eat however you want if the environment you are in allows it. But it doesn't hurt learning how to do it properly for different ones. It shows your respect to others as well as the establishment.
And really, it's not hard... just need practice. There are literally very few things you can't get done with fork/knife; even for tedious stuff like de-shelling a shrimp
The vid shows with spoon, but doing with knife is about the same. Once you get your hands (no pun intended) on the skill, it's actually easier than do it with hand.
Can't stand loud eaters, ocationally I'll catch my kid doing it and he gets a light back hand in the back of the head same way my dad did to me to teach me to eat properly. Nobody should be able to hear you chew or see your food well you're doing it, if they can you are doing it wrong.

Eating food at a restaurant (with food dishes for everyone to eat, like a Chinese restaurant) or someone's house without using serving spoons, forks, chopsticks.
Nobody wants to eat your saliva.
Ever eat at a hot pot restaurant where people wash their chopsticks in the soup digging for food?
It depends on where I'm eating or what I'm eating. I'm generally a quiet eater but when it comes to drinking soup/broth i might be louder. I remember when i was little, my parents would say that the soup must be good because we were drinking it so loudly(?). It definitely helps to slurp it when it's hot. But then I wouldn't say i "slurp"? I kind of lowkey slurp, like inhaling but without making a loud watery slurping noise lol. It's different when you have soup in a Western restaurant because the spoon is small and you don't drink from the bowl, lol you're basically just eating the soup.
Funny story about putting the bones on the table in China: it's true (where my family originates from anyway). Last time I visited my relatives, it's a normal thing to just put the bones on the table and at the end of the meal, to wipe them off the table when you clean up. I guess it's stayed the same there, while our family evolved after coming to Canada. My family usually each have a bone plate when we eat food with bones, or leave the bone in our bowl. My grandparents over here like to set out old flyers/newspaper for bones and wrap it all up to dump after dinner.
Also the other time we visited my relatives in China, we went over to another's place where they offered us seeds/peanuts/etc to eat. My dad was holding onto the shells that he'd peeled off and asked them where the garbage can was. Their response was "Oh, just throw it on the floor, we'll sweep it up later." Like huh?!? Lol
I'd have to say, I probably don't know much about other food/eating culture. I try to use the provided utensils as generally proper as possible
I was in a KFC in China, and by holy, not only were they spitting the bones on the table. There were people spitting the bones on the floor... ON THE FLOOR!!! ... one actually bounced and hit me in the ankle I gave the lady a death stare but she didn't even look up to notice...
When I was really young my family always kept saying if I kept shaking my leg at dinner that I would grow up to be poor because shaking the leg was metaphorically "shaking leaves off the tree" in that the leaves were dolla dolla bills lol. I dunno, it somehow worked.
