I was never racist against Natives until I moved up north here... Albeit this is due to the bad apples ruining it/giving a bad name for the rest of them.
Because the white man/everyone else is behind ALL their suffering... You think it's bad there, come up here or go to northern Sask/Man/Ont and you'll see some shit.
No doubt, gotta live with some people before you go riding around on a high horse.
Cracks me up when people make sanctimonious remarks, yet never had to live with the ones they're defending.

I got jumped by 4 native guys in edmonton and had the fuck kicked out of me when I was 21. It was 2 days after a car accident and my arm was in a sling after a dislocated shoulder.
Had nothing to do with natives being racist. Had everything to do with those particular 4 guys being pieces of shit.
Like white rocket said, fucking assholes come in all races, and everyone loves to blame any shitty altercations on ulterior motives.

From grade 1 to grade 4, there was this fat native chick and her white skinny friend who would always call me a "chink". Not once did it bothered me lol.
Fast forward to high school in grade 9, was when they realized that they were in the Asian gangster era, and they never looked me in the eye again.

I grew up in the DTES and there were quite a few First Nations kids in the neighbourhood. Very few went to school, so we never really got to know them in that way. They stuck to themselves and we never bothered to seek them out. We had our own problems. The few i got to know very well were good kids. The ones who were problematic were the ones who had really shitty parents... as in they were never around to guide them. Later on in life, I worked along side a lot of FN folks while working at the fish processing plant. Really good people. I went to their houses on the reserve (Musqueam) often. Most of them are really laid back and friendly. I can see why some of them were bitter, though. Generations of wAndering with no focus or future to speak of. Abuse, neglect, low self-esteem, alcoholism, drugs, you name it. Given handouts by the government, very few of them wanted to better themselves.
They're not racist.......... they're more like really angry at the world. The government throws money at them, but nobody seems to find any real solutions. Take education, for example. The federal government pays for a lot of programmes, but it's money wasted, for the most part. Indigenous people around the world all face similar issues.
The leaders in their communities want something done, but they have no idea as to what is needed. Perhaps family life education?
As for the bad apples, no different from the Vietnamese gangs or the south asian gangs, the KKK, etc.
One thing I have noticed, though. They don't like to be told what to do. They hate any kind of authority. That could come from years and years of being oppressed and controlled?
Anyway, gotta go. This thread can be a positive one. Let's discuss further, shall we, RS?
Not focus too much on our experiences, but try to get at the root(s) of the problem.
Where's Native Russ?

My little sister and her friend was placed in the wrong social studies class in high school called first nations education and she told me that all they learned was to hate white people.
Kind of random, but I had an aboriginal friend named Grant back in Grade 2. He was only there for that one year and went to another school for grade 3. Long story short, I invited him over to play action figures and he had to go to the washroom. He ended up taking a dump and told me to come over after to see that he tossed all the TP with brown stains in the trash can instead of disposing it in the toilet and flushing like a normal person.
I didn't think much of it at the time, but seeing something awkward like as a child is hard to forget. But hey, maybe I'm the weird one that tosses used TP in the toilet.

I'm not doubting the bad experiences with this group...some I am sure are real social problems instead of racial discrimination
but it's asinine to call others who haven't, sanctimonious

We're lucky we have toilets that flush into a sewage system that transports our shit far away. Some places in the world don't have that luxury, and to avoid clogging up toilets/septic tanks incurring large repair bills, they throw the tp in the garbage or simply use a tub of water and their hands.
When I was in Manila and needed to use a toilet in one of the SMs there, I immediately noticed there was no TP (no holder, nothing). Being someone who plans ahead, I always carried around a roll of TP in my backpack. What I did see was a "tabo" (which I'm sure is for flushing if the toilet malfunctions). But since there was no TP it doesn't take much to think about what people do if they don't have tp on hand.
Yup, tossing used TP into the bin next to the toilet is pretty much par for the course for the much of the world outside of North America. Maybe that's the case for some Native Reserves too?

This is why it is considered a no-no to eat with your left hand in countries like India, parts of Africa, etc. Since most people are right-handed, they use the left to do their bathroom business.

One has absolutely nothing to do with the other. Many older European septic systems can't take toilet paper either.

Fair enough. Maybe a poor choice of words.
So then what word would you use to describe a person who claims to be morally superior with racial tolerance for a group yet has never had that tolerance tested for any relative length of time?

Met lots of nice Natives, don't think it has anything to do with race.
It comes down to socioeconomics, based in their economic class, how many of them have much exposure to different races? Why are rednecks in the South so racist? Bet much of that is their community, and their lack of exposure to different races and cultures.
People forget that Vancouver is a bubble, any many of us who post here come from middle-class upper-middle class families, which has allowed us to be more cultured. Heck my group of friends are so diverse, I can't really say I hand out with any specific race of people, but that's not normal in many parts of this country.
Poster, you sound exactly like some white dude talking about blacks in the US.
