horey shet that is a 9/10 in the looks department

side rant those Acura/Honda LEDs are retina-melting, is there an adjustment knob to point the array down or is it static?

Badhobz 01-13-2018 09:15 PM

horey shat for the interior, i like those seats.

outside still looks like an angry bird pig, a la MDX

I hope they offer a black interior. That tan is so mid 90's SC400. Bleh...

10 speed transmission? Like my old Schwinn bicycle!

supafamous 01-14-2018 08:35 AM

I like it! Looks like it's got the 2L turbo (and guessing it's the 10 speed auto) as well.

Just spent yesterday checking out similar cars and this one looks like it could be a big winner with me.

Akinari 01-14-2018 07:52 PM

Holy shit, incredible looking crossover :ahwow:

The athleticism of Mazda's Kodo combined with Honda/Acura's new design language, very dynamic looking. Nicely integrated floating roof design that seems to be all the hype these days too.

Not sure how I feel about the centre console, seems kinda Santa Fe and not in a good way, and the NSX-esque switchgear looks like an afterthought. Steering wheel and centre screen are straight out of a BMW, this time in a good way though :ilied:

But seriously though, that is one striking front end.

Also Lexus flirted and failed with the whole trackpad RTI thing, so it'll be interesting to see how Acura goes about having a trackpad in this.

:notbad:

thumper 01-15-2018 07:50 AM

that acura badge in the grille is absolutely massive. is there some sort of radar sensor behind it? i know mercedes can pull it off, but this...

Acura604 01-15-2018 07:51 AM

SPECS coming soon...but holy crap...speakers in the roof lol.

Highlights:

2.0 VTEC Turbo - with 40% more torque than the current RDX.
SHAWD.
Adaptive dampers.
Suspension tuned for performance and comfort.
ASPEC model
Real wood and real metal
3D Sound system (speakers in the roof)
10 speed transmission.

****return of TYPE S within 3 years on some Acura models*****

they are bringing back SH-AWD? Hmm may have to ditch our MDX for this since it's such a gas guzzler...

Totally change my opinion about the centre console, now getting a side-view, the floating centre console is incredible.

Alpine 01-15-2018 03:28 PM

Cx5 pre face lift with acura bits is all i see unfortunately. The interior does look pretty good for a change, and this will probably be a top seller.

bomberR17 01-15-2018 03:45 PM

Heard they gonna put a V6T in there, possibly for the Type S.

So some rough guesses to figure out performance:

- Loaded CR-V is 3500lbs and it lost a 100lbs from the last gen so figure a loaded RDX will be between 3700-3800lbs (previous gen loaded was 3900lbs).
- An Accord Touring 2.0L/auto with 252 hp at 3400lbs does 0-60 in 5.5s (Car and Driver)
- The 2016 RDX at 3900lbs and a J35 does 0-60 in 6.2s with a 6 speed auto
- The RDX likely gets a premium gas version of the K20C2 so figure 270hp (the premium gas K24 makes 17hp more than the regular one).
- An Audi Q5 at 4100lbs, 252hp and a 7 speed does 0-60 in 5.8s, a GLC300 at 4100lbs, 241hp and a 9 speed does 0-60 in 5.9s.

Add that up and I think the new RDX is going to be FAST for a base model. Figure low 5s. I'll do a few eggplants for that.

The Type S with the rumoured turbo V6 is going to be a beast!

don't know about you guys but that dash though.. mah gawdd:ahwow:

twitchyzero 01-15-2018 09:14 PM

^ how come they need touchpad? the screen is too far to reach, yeah?

On paper ,My 2017 civic type r is only rated about 5.4.
I doubt something nearly 700-900 lbs heavier with all the luxury items will be as quick off the line

Car and Driver has actual 0-60 for the Type R at 4.9s and the Type R is traction limited on launch (witness a Golf R that's 300lbs heavier and less powerful doing 0-60 in 4.5s.

The RDX's closest comp is the Accord 2.0T which has the same drivetrain but in FWD - it'll weigh 300lb more than the Accord, make about 20hp more, and not be traction limited. The Accord bangs it out in 5.5s. Depending on final power numbers and weight the RDX should be thereabouts with the Accord or better.

Edit: The other close comp is the Q5 which is probably 200-300lbs heavier, has less power, and only 7 gears and does 0-60 in under 6s. The RDX is going to be definitely faster than the Q5.

I am not sure how they got 4.9..... but they did say that. most of the other editors vary in the sub 5's.

It was also revealed that the new RDX will not share anything from the CRV platform.

in red it reminds me of the mazda cx5

belka 01-17-2018 11:08 AM

Edit: They are 21's
