^It's great when you don't know what you don't know much/what you're looking for, but for people who know exactly what they want and are going to DIY it, they're gonna want the price listed, because great service doesn't matter at that point, they're gonna purchase from the place that has the lowest price.

To me, if you can’t beat or at least match an online price, there is no incentive for me to shop there.
Let alone if you aren’t willing to list your prices, the chances of me driving there to just have a look are zero.

Let's see............... IASCA zone champion......... been to the IASCA World Invitationals to represent Western Canada. Totally DIY system with dual battery system with dual alternators to eliminate noise in system, plug and play custom crossover board, etc. Got an Alpine F#1 Status system in my truck, etc. Months and months of work, etc.
I told Keith what I was looking for and he pointed me to the best deck for the price with all the features mentioned. Sorry I made it sound like I knew nothing about sound systems.
And, great service does matter, even for a DIY'er. Not everyone is going to be competing in sound-offs or anything, but there are times you need a little help like adjusting the system for sound quality, etc. RTA, for example (which I also happen to have). Second opinions and from people who are trained in the art of system design and integration into the vehicle, goes a long way. I'm also getting old and hearing isn't as good as it used to be. Not being able to detect that 3db dip somewhere in the 250hz range like I used to. Shit that affects the overall sound quality of a system, which I can still appreciate, even with the slight loss in hearing. Overtone series of certain instruments. Stuff that let you hear the difference between a flugelhorn and a trumpet. Oh, and harpsichord played on a great sounding system will send shivers up and down your spine. Sorry for the rambling.......... won't even get into the soundstage and imaging of the system or the over processing of the content. Natural is always better. Processing, only to get that last 5% to overcome the shortcomings due to the physical layout of the vehicle.
Anyway................... not here to argue. god bless

I understand why they don't want people to shop around
but it's boxing day
reminds me of the old flyers with no prices '2 LOW 2 SHOW!!!'
it will work with the older/long-time clients, but that's not really how we shop any more
oh and with how prevalent Spotify/Netflix etc is, I doubt majority even those upgrading new decks care about sound stage, etc

With online shopping so easy if the traditional brick and mortar don't even list their to show they are on par or cheaper than online shopping why should I take the risk to go?
If there is a deal online and I don't need the items right away then yea I will find the cheapest price online and just buy it. Even of locals are cheaper it might not be worth it to actual go.
Is sad but that's the truth. Online shopping is so easy and if brick and mortar don't even try harder to get my business why should I do more work to buy it form you?
The only time I actually buy something local is when I need the item right away, is actually a lot cheaper than online or is on my way. Otherwise online shopping it is.

The only time I actually buy something local is when I need the item right away, is actually a lot cheaper than online or is on my way. Otherwise online shopping it is. | First of all, I got the deck for way cheaper than any on line web site. Even cheaper than Visions (by quite a large margin). The deck came out like four or five months ago. It isn't last year's model or some overstock item that nobody wanted. What if you had issues with the item? You going to ship/return the item to, let's say, Crutchfield hoping to get it dealt with in a timely matter?
I went in there and got rewarded with a really good deal. I can't speak for the owners of places like Soundsgood, which btw happens to be a RS sponsor, but I don't think they're ever going to be, or want to be, like a Visions or a Best Buy.
When it comes to home audio or televisions, I go to Sunny Electronics. I've dealt with the same sales guy for decades. Always got good deals that were always less than Best Buy, Visions, etc. I have good rapport/relationship with them. If anything goes wrong with the product, I know they've got my back. They are knowledgeable and always uptodate with the latest.
I really don't care where people buy their shit. And, it's almost starting to sound like I'm defending local businesses, but there are advantages to supporting local businesses. If you buy something from a big box, on-line business and you're happy, then I'm happy for you.
My son moved into a condo and wanted a television and a few other electronic items. I went with him to Sunny Electronics. I told the owner what we were looking for and he gave us a few choices and beat Best Buy's Best Deal.
Last year, I wanted an amplifier. After some research, I decided on a specific model. I phoned up Sunny Electronics and said, "Hey, xxxxxxx, I'm looking for a xxxxx. Do you carry it?" Yup. "Best Buy has it on sale for, xxxxxxx. Can you match the price?" Sure enough, I got it for less.
There's nothing like going into a place where you chat with the owner of the establishment. I get it that people are now, now, now. I want it now and cheap and I want, want, want. And what's with the taking a risk thing all about? Quote:

After a tonne of research and reading opinions on this machine this is one of the best reviewed things I’ve bought in a long time. On amazon it’s 4.8 stars out of 5 with over 700 reviews and similar results on BestBuy etc
This is pretty much the best price this thing has ever gone for | Did you have a drip maker before? If you did, did you get rid of it?

Havent touched the drip machine since, i'm tempted to keep for parties etc. but just another thing taking up cabinet space.
The coffee's i'm making with the espresso machine are soooo much better than the drip
