Compared to Trump. JT is a saint.
So far hes not focking anything up and is steadfast on pro legalization of weed. If he delivers his promise on legalization he's getting my vote again.
What's your view on this budget that sees an emphasis on women in the work place and closing the pay gap?
I'm hoping that in terms of administration that's OK, but I have yet to see women in construction be as productive as men. Possibly that's because it is rare to see women on site. I'm looking forward to that sweet sweet paternity leave though.
i haven't seen any data proving that women are being paid unfairly.
as far as women in the workplace, it's hard to be upset with his policies in that regard when it's claimed to combat the labor shortage we're facing.
problem is the majority of labor the country is in demand for are areas where women are highly unlikely to pursue. ie, skilled trades.
it looks more like he's just pandering for votes to me. just more BS, IMO

I'm all for having the same wages if you're doing the same job, that makes perfect sense. What I don't get is when women complain they aren't getting paid as much as men who are doing totally different jobs. Yeah Jimmy risks his life doing something dangerous everyday and Linda answers a phone, maybe that's why there's a difference in pay.

The data is so fucking skewed in the pay gap argument that it's not even worth arguing.
In an apples-to-apples comparisons (same occupation, same location, same hours, etc.) the pay gap is non-existent to minor.
Most of the numbers you see in the news and online, and coming out of various talking heads, politicians, and women's groups are all men vs. all women, regardless of occupation, hours worked, experience, etc.
Yeah, of course women make less if they work fewer hours, take more time off, and generally don't advance as much as men.
What's never mentioned are the equity gaps in:
- healthcare funding
- education funding
- social assistance
- homelessness
- family court
- etc.
Yeah, of course women make less if they work fewer hours, take more time off, and generally don't advance as much as men.
Does the fact that they have to take leave to have children a cause of that? I would argue it does.
Should they be penalised for it?
I would loved to have taken a chunk of Paternity leave to be with my kid, but there's no practical way I could do it for two reasons:
1) I make double the salary that my wife does, going on EI for paternity would be a massive hit to the wallet
2) I work in a project based industry, my work wouldn't just wait for me and I'd fall behind.
They'd hire someone to fill in, and when I came back I'd just have someone else internally to compete with. I've seen for the women on mat leave they have a habit of not letting those "temporary hires" go after the women on mat leave come back.

If you compare Canada to the other g7 countries, under the Harper government, we had the strongest economic growth and job creation since the recession.
And what is your definition of "work"? Look at the deficit that this moron is running up. With no intention (anymore) of returning it to even a reasonable level.
And sure, this budget isn't (as much) of a shit kicking to businesses as people thought it'd be, but it does absolutely nothing to curtail the appeal of the US tax reform.

Just pay people what they are worth. That's fair, but don't over compensate because it's fashionable to do so.
We need more women in our workplace, so let's hire more women. Who cares the best people are being overlooked.
JT is so focussed on being a knight in shining armour and a champion of the disadvantaged, that he's missing what makes this country great.
Harper, although he was not liked by many, was fiscally responsible.
What I really want to see is how JT handles Trump and his selfish stupidity. I want to see Canada pull out of the Free Trade talks. Fuck the Americans and their foreign policy. I hope the rest of the world does the same. Enough of that American bullying.
Dotard being dotard. I hope that's all it is. The guy is a huge windbag.

If women got paid less than men to do the same or similar job, there would be a higher female workforce than men. Cheaper for the company.
Oh yeah institutional sexism, that's why.
I'm not against women making equal pay but physically and mentally speaking men and women are different.
You just can't do some stuff that the other sex can do.
Women are more compassionate, men have more physical strength and are logical thinkers. Both are crucial and are needed to balance a team.
If a person jumped through a window for the hell of it the first thought process for women is "are they okay" and men's first though is "why the fuck did they do that"
A make cop will have a better chance because of physical traits to restrain an uncooperative 200 pound man.
As mentioned already by other people women just can't exert and produce as much productivity in trades like construction. Car mechanics (some parts are heavy and need to be hauled from parts counter to bay)
Some jobs men just have the upper edge on. If women can't do the entry level job they'll never be able to make manager, foreman, CEO or whatever
The left will never admit to any of what you just said because that would be admitting there is a difference between men and women and that would be speaking against complete equality.

Yeeeaah I dunno. I've seen plenty of physically small guys in just about every field. I think the more decisive factor is the differences in mental traits.

Physically small guys do not equate to women even if they look like it.

They don't equate to men, no. But as far as physical strength, a woman who weighs 150lbs and a man who weighs 150lbs, both with same muscle mass, should be physically capable of the same labor.
During ww2, 65% of the US workforce in the aircraft and munitions industry were women. Prior to ww2, it was 1%

Fuck. Trump Master-general saying no exceptions on steel tariffs. Hard to tell with this guy, but he may not be bluffing after all.
May be rough waters ahead...

So now it looks like there may be concessions on steel tariffs.. if we take a beating on NAFTA, that is.
I wonder if Trudeau's tough talk on pulling out over this will materialize. Haven't heard more than a peep.
Big fish in a small pond. Looks like Trudeau's in over his head. Shark is circling
