If there was a plan to treat addiction and homeless by building a massive modular housing camp out in chilliwack etc and install the resources and support needed I’d cut a $1500 cheque out of my own pocket tomorrow.

I know this location and it's right next door to senior's housing and residential area. I don't think anyone would like it if their next door neighbor house turns into homeless shelter....

you cant throw homeless people in the middle of nowhere. they have the worst access to transportation coupled with the highest need for medical attention and government services.

If the idea is to reintegrate these people into society, you don't drop them off in a place far from basic services and opportunities.

What Im saying is, people shouldn't talk like protesters are being selfish because it's not their next door. Because EVERY SINGLE home owners will do exactly the same to stop it, if it's coming to their neighborhood.

It's tough to integrate someone who shuns society. Many of them have made their decision to be out there. Does it suck? Yeah, it does. But there are a lot of deserving people out there. I'm more interested in housing the single mom rather than someone who is more interested in the drug life.

You do realize that subsidized and low income housing is not a free apartment for a crack head righf? It will be a single parent, it will be a new immigrant, it will be someone whose trying to pick their life back up. These homeless craxkhead people you speak of will continue to shun projects like this and often have no interest living in an apartment building.

They're talking about shelters, not low income housing. I know there is a difference between the two. The problem with low income housing is that it's a generation away from being a ghetto. Many don't know this, but Vancouver had a huge number of project housing back in the 60's and 70's.
