Hahaha the only reason that letter makes any sense at all or has any truth in it is because he did not write one single word of that letter.

Except maybe the sentence that started with "But" cuz that's borderline poor grammar.

He even kind of admitted it "Here is the letter"... for once he didn't say MY ME MINE or even try to take direct credit for it.

welfare 05-20-2020 10:11 PM

I wouldn't doubt it.
Presidents usually have others write letters on their behalf. Same thing with speeches.

68style 05-21-2020 01:46 AM

If only anything else sounded remotely this presidential or fact based out of his administration it wouldn’t be such a joke

Trumpian logic at work: "Hey WHO, you failed to prevent a pandemic, so let's cut off funding so there's no hope in you ever preventing pandemics in the future!"

The WHO were legally obligated to pursue information from the place of origin, including non-governmental, regarding its spread, immediately, under the IHR agreement 2005. They failed to do so repeatedly during the most crucial time.
They failed to classify this as a pandemic until three weeks after it met their own criteria for this classification.
They commended China on its reaction multiple times after having knowledge that reporters and doctors had been silenced by the government for attempting to warn the public of this virus in its early stage.
Those are just a few examples of how they failed at the job they're paid, a great majority by the US, to do.

Trump is right to withhold their funding.

If the president was anyone other than Trump doing the same thing, you'd be agreeing with them.

More damning evidence of a quid pro quo.
More media silence and hypocrisy.

Well, so did Trump:

So USA cuts their funding to WHO because they feel WHO is too influenced by China. So China steps in to provide additional funding, providing even more influence of the WHO. Great Logic! :fulloffuck:

welfare 05-22-2020 08:16 AM

And the WHO would, rightfully so, become irrelevant.
Member countries could take their funding and create a new organization. One that isn't so incompetent and derelict of their duties.
Or maybe this will be enough pressure to force a restructuring.
Regardless, their poor performance warrants punitive action.
I'd even go to the extent to say that it's required.

No, because no other president would be stupid enough to defund the WHO in the middle of a Pandemic.

Ya because starting a new organization full of experts is so easy.

I like these little homework assignments for the press. Forces them to do their job or exposes them for what they really are.

Is the virus not most effective indoors and with people with poor health? How dare Trump go outside, be somewhat physically active, and promote such behaviour for Americans. This may surprise those of you suffering with Trump Derangement Syndrome, but a part of being a leader, is to lead by example.

MarkyMark 05-23-2020 09:33 PM

Clearly that's what Trumps fat ass was thinking when he swung a club and then got driven to his ball by his caddy, "Make America Ripped Again".

It sounds like when a kid overhears something they weren't supposed to and the adults BS something to cover it. In this case I can imagine he overheard someone saying he tested positive and they came up with this fantastic use of the English language that he is now repeating.
