You gotta....push..that...dirt off your shoulders. Giving people like that your attention kind of gives them a bit of your power. Racist people like to know that what they are saying is affecting you. Show that it doesn't and by ignoring it or looking down your nose on it, it should diffuse the situation. Engaging typically doesn't end well unless your trying to egg them on with a camera in their face.
I assure you, if you'd ever been in a real fight, you probably wouldn't be so inclined to get into another one.
Agreed, however I know some that live for it. Win or lose. It's a difficult type of personality to deal with but friends are friends no matter what. I also know heavily trained people that have no inclination to engage in any sort of physical violence but, in turn, could turn the average man into a human pretzel in about 8 seconds. Being trained offers perspective and humility. Being a mouthy tough guy just offers annoyances to those around you.
I don't know where you work, but I've never been at a workplace that has tolerated customers actually being racist on the premises without a warning or flat out being told to leave. I'm white, I've never been profiled, but the places I've been have a gtfo attitude with that kind of shit.
Funny thing is that if you tried that shit at Riverport Cineplex, you would have gotten refunded, kicked out and/or banned from the premises. But it really depends on the managers, most of the new age managers there are pussies, and didn't do much as to protect the employee.

True.
People who are angry enough to use fighting as a method of dealing with society, are terrifying. It's like being around a retired soldier who has seen actual battle. To be in a room with someone who has killed is a little disconcerting.
But this thread is about racism, not fighting. So I'll be on my way.

wanna fight about it?

In finance - people assume Asian = nerdy and great with numbers, typical bean counters.
In management, people assume you're young = family help and come from money.
At gym, if you're big, people assume you're taking supplements and juicing.
Roll with a nice car on the road, people assume you're a prick and self-centred.
Drive a modified car, people assume you're a street racer and steals DVD players with your underglow Civic.
In real estate, if you're Asian people assume you're funnelling $100K in twenty dollar bills through 100 cousins Wings and Chongs and driving up Real Estate prices.

Maybe?
hahaha, really though, my uncle was 260lbs of solid muscle. He grew up in east van back when that meant something, and he had an attitude to go along with his size. He used to tell stories that would start with thing like "Well, the fourth time I punched out a cop didn't go so well for me..."
His issue was that when you're that big, guys don't fight fair. When your body is a weapon, it's not a stretch that a guy will come back with something nasty to even things out.

joe45 you gotta grow a pair of balls and tell the customer off.
when i worked retail i had no issue being rude back at the customer if they were rude first. the shock they had on their face when you tell them off is priceless... cuz they used to being pricks and getting away with it because they're customers
when customers made dumbass remarks before i'd tell them off too
"how come you guys don't do ____? X (the competitor store) does it."
sounds like the customer is letting you know how your B&M store can stay competitive (and alive) so oh you know you can continue to put food on the table
take the advice or not, but don't be a fucking wisecrack
I used to work as the General Manager of Sport Chek in Fort McMurray, prior to that the GM of Sport Chek in Vernon.
In Vernon j get more of the ignorant racist types
Where an elderly man would come in and say things like how they fought against people like me in the war. (I'm Asian)
Also in Vernon, people would often come up to me and ask "what are you?!" Referring to my race...and when I say Chinese, they would be like "Konichiwa"
Also in Vernon, some customers would try to be nice and say things like "oh do you know a Johnny Chang? He is also from Vancouver and he is Chinese too"
In fort mac it was more of a hatred styke of racism, as the store manager I often handled customer complaints...I remembered one time a Caucasian customer asked to speak to the general manager, so I went up...and he was like "I want the general manager". To which I said "that would be me"...then he proceeded to go on a rant saying how it's fucked up that "you people" are taking all the good jobs, and how the world is going to shit because of "you people".
Another customer in fort Mac called for a manager, then saw it was me, and ask to speak to a "Canadian manager"....
So yup racisim definitely still exists....the customer facing jobs tends to get it a little worse.
