Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3+
 

Looking to replace the stock/OEM tires that came with [edit] my friend's car with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+. Anybody running them? And if so, care to share your thoughts and impression on these?

For the price, I'd recommend Continental ExtremeContact Sport if the size you're looking for is available

Had mine for about a year, awesome tires. They have tons of grip in the dry, I would go as far as to say they have almost the same grip level as some of the summer specific tires.
Handling: Good, sidewalls seem to have good support, no jiggle or squirm like the oem tires I had before, pretty damn close to my summers for response.
Wet: Good
Snow: Passable for the few days of light snow in richmond/van, but I'd get snow tires for anything more than a couple inches
Noise: Fine, what you'd expect for this category, almost as good as dedicated 4 seasons, not nearly as bad as summers, very very slight growl at slow speeds sometimes when I roll to a stop, but you'd have to be listening for it
Comfort: Good, but mine are pretty meaty 225/50/17
Wear: Seems good after a year (25k km) of abuse, shoulders still have the injection moulding marks despite regular abuse on on/off ramps

I did a bunch of research before buying them, and the tirerack ratings and reviews are pretty accurate with what I've experienced so far. High performance 4 seasons have definitely come a long way since the days of falken ziex 512s...

I had the last gen pilot sport A/S3. they were pretty good. Had no issues. And the new ones now are apparently 20+% better than last gen

The final price comparing the Michelin vs. Continental seem to be an extra $150-250 for Continental. Got any leads?

I got the continental extreme contact sports on my 16' wrx. 255/40/18 I find them to have lots of grip and pretty good when wet. Pretty much cant go wrong with both. I think wear rating is around 350-380 which is pretty good I would say.

i prefer Conti DWS , i have a set for myself and they come with one year warranty. anything happen to the tire , they would give u a new one:fullofwin:

I've had them since April, not much use but they seem pretty good so far.

I have the ECS, incredible tires for the price. Miata guys love it too, grip levels allegedly close to RE71R.

i believe this is what my wifes G37 has. If they are, they are fantastic tires, ive been really impressed with them

I run them on my Maserati. No issues whatsoever. Plenty of dry weather grip and really not half bad in the rain.

Nah, if this is a 3 season tire I’d recommend the Michelin over the contactsport

I have a set of dedicated winters so I'm good on that front. Ideally, I'd like a set of dedicated summer tires, but reality says otherwise. :okay:

ive had the a/s 3+ for 9 months but I haven't taken it autox
for Vancouver (more rain than sun, very little snow) I don't think you can beat them in the UHPAS category

I have the regular AS3 on my 5.0 Mustang. I replaced the Pirelli P-Zeros that came on the car that would literally spin when I let the clutch out without any gas when it was rainy and cold out.
I find the AS3s to be very sporty and great in the rain, even with 400+ horsepower and rear-drive.
Stable at speed, too.
I am a big Michelin fan.

Neighbor had his stock PSS replaced with AS3 on his 235i M
He drives hard and has nothing bad to say about the tires.
ECS is stock tires on my M4, never slip or losing grip while cornering HARD.
can't say much about straight line since it spins no matter what tire you put on it lol

Nah. They’re comparable to pilot super sports or Goodyear eagle f1’s. They are not a dedicated track tire like a pilot cup 2, re71r, federal rsrr etc

I am not understanding this correctly.

So there is already a set of dedicated winter tires. In that case, why would you still want to get a set of "all season" tires?

If you plan on running the same set of tires year round, I can totally see why all seasons (eg. Pilot Sport AS3+) would make sense. But if there is already a set of winter tires, it make no sense to run all seasons in the other 3 seasons.

(This is assuming the car will be used in Metro Vancouver and vicinity.)

used my friend's membership to buy it online and they needed to be in the store as well to have the tires installed. in the end i got my own membership as it would have been a hassle to always have my friend there if i needed anything else done with those tires or warranty

^ I believe if you have the Costco gift card, you will be able to both purchase the tires and have them installed at their car shop as well.
