IIRC cops still get paid when going to court dates nowadays, so there isn't any loss to them. If anything, they got some sweet paid leaves, essentially.

Looks like the BS continues, eh? Haven't gotten into trouble with my Camaro SS 1LE so far, but we will see what happens.

Someone set up this website to compile a database of VI's.
If the guy that set this up is on RS, big thank you.

I was sitting in my MR2 Turbo today with the engine running (GReddy PE exhaust that's not exactly quiet) and windows half down before leaving a parking lot in Richmond but was checking something on my phone first... and I hear a voice say "Nice car, what year is it?" and I turn and all I see (the car is low) is a big POLICE lettering on a bulletproof vest and I'm like... oh no...

But he just wanted to ask me about my car and how long I'd had it and stuff, started telling me about his VW Beetle restoration he's working on with one of his kids. After awhile I actually realized I remembered him because I had worked with him a long time ago, but he had no idea about that when he approached me, so yah there you go... my "THEY'RE NOT ALL BAD" story... hahaha

Richmond rcmp have always been chill from my experience.

Can a VI be disputed in court? Because this is basically the only way to "win." Well, it's not really a win, but if everyone who gets a VI pulls a karen and disputes it in court, it takes the cop off the road and clogs up the justice system. Clog the system up enough and maybe it will force some sort of change.

Of course, this is useless if it can't be disputed...

BIC_BAWS 09-20-2021 10:53 PM

No, a VI / N&O cannot be disputed in court. However the tickets issued with one, can be.

Revscene is a very different demographic than what OP is complaining about most likely. They're all being ticketed 'live' when the car was running, or when it was out on the streets, and they're typically already being semi-targeted due to their proximity with the street-racing scene.

People who mod their cars to be louder than necessary are generally assholes and loser
Wow... should I be glad that we are regarded in such a positive light?

I was thinking more along the lines of 14 dollas ballers and $200k+/yr C-suite occupants. :D

yray 10-19-2021 05:33 PM

street racing scene... it's more like 炒楼 scene

vash13 10-19-2021 08:38 PM

A cop gave me a warning for my exhaust and he couldn't tell if it was aftermarket or not. so I added a downpipe =)

GIZZ 10-20-2021 08:26 AM

I haven't had a VI come through the shop in at least 6 months. The one that came by this past week was an Acura TL, no mufflers and 4 giant tips that stuck out maybe 4" past the bumper. I told him to get it sorted out and come back. He asked if he could do that then put this loud exhaust back on after inspection... he was pulled over in Surrey.

EvoFire 10-20-2021 09:31 AM

The scene has seemingly cleaned up considerably in terms of excessive loud exhausts. Or I'm around Van/BBY/RMD and people typically avoid those areas with modded cars.

Mustangs and trucks are still loud AF, but there are less FRS/BRZ/Civic/Subaru loud cars. Might explain why the VIs are dying down as well.

BlackV62K2 10-20-2021 10:03 AM

These cops should just sit on Georgia Viaduct and Expo Blvd down by Costco. They would make a fortune on speeding and loud cars. Do they even ticket idiots on loud harleys? They are the most annoying.

!Aznboi128 10-20-2021 10:30 AM

Gotta be honest, there's a loud mustang a few houses down he works early so I hear his car at 6am every morning and it's kinda annoying. Maybe cause I'm getting older but it's starting to bug me more than I remember.

inv4zn 10-20-2021 10:36 AM

lol I filled up yesterday next to an Abarth 500. Fuck those things are loud.

Knock on wood, but have you gotten a VI or drive around in fear of getting one?

He filled up next to one, doesn't have one.

Two of my buddies have Abarths (one bought one, he talked the other one into it... tried to talk me into it too) they both haven't had any problems... just clutch in when going by any cops hahaha

There's a C63 AMG with a loud ass exhaust, not sure of the brand as I never really got up close to look, who lives in my building. I swear he flips to sport mode and loves to downshift hard whenever he comes home. As a new dad with a 14 month baby, he's waken my son up from his sleep a few times. I also once walked by the owner and he started his car startling my sleeping son in the stroller. Seriously old age has hit me and I can care less about loud exhausts.
