FOI requests take 8 months to process. At least it did for Health Canada. Only costs pretty little tho. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk |
One of my friends didn't get a VI but got impounded and an evading ticket when he wasn't even going excessive and pulled over to a safe spot. They're having a pretty hard crackdown in Vancouver. |
seems like word is spreading quick and there's new members on here or lurkers posting now |

There isn't a spec of corrosion or paint rub on this car. It sucks to be straight up lied to and not be able to do anything. |
Again, record their activity. |
Has anyone with a legitimate beef actually filed a complaint? https://vancouver.ca/police/organiza...omplaints.html |
I’ll be filing one. Thanks for the link. |
Just a suggestion, but perhaps someone (preferably with a legal background so it sounds extra official) should draft up a letter that everyone can copy and paste and straight up just email into the VPD chief complaining about the harassment and profiling and the potential for kickbacks from being able to specify where a car goes without rationale? Mention the media and harassment by Cain in particular? Guaranteed the Chief’s email is the standard VPD email naming scheme so it would be Adam.Palmer@vpd.ca... if it’s copy and pasted as text it won’t get screened for attachments, no bitching no whining no swearing or name calling just everyone sending the same letter to him... I imagine after a few hundred emails it will get his attention enough that he has to do something about it. Again, only a suggestion, simple but most likely very effective. He also has a twitter account @ChiefPalmer so wouldn’t hurt to spam the same letter there? |
attached the youtube where the officer is miss interpreting the mva and that if it goes to court all of the vi would get tossed |

i'd like to take a walk though the VPD employee lot - just to double check that everybody has OEM exhaust hangers |

If they are suggesting that you take the car back to the dealer, I don't think you should mention the kickback thing. |
what is the best way to bring attention/fix this issue as a community ? i feel like the end goal would be getting the government to revise the MVA regarding modified cars, preventing unlawful/unwarranted VI's... |
What about if you drive a modified Scion, Pontiac, Saab? Quote:

Instead, I'd imagine a campaign through bombardment on multiple channels, demonstrated by as many victims as possible, would work best. I'm reminded of when TV shows used to get cancelled and rabid fans would mail things to TV studios to demonstrate truly how many people want their show resurrected. Over 20 tons of nuts were shipped to CBS as part of a campaign to save the post-apocalyptic series Jericho. For instance:
Yes, a lot of it will annoy or irritate the recipient, but it'll also bring this issue to light to more people. FOI and emailing every VPD email address would have more rank and file and administrative city staff aware of this issue, which will have them asking questions to others why they keep getting these same requests. It has the ability to reach far beyond any auto enthusiast to get them talking; to have it register in their minds. Beyond that, it helps to give yourself credibility. Aside from having pictures to prove your innocence contrasted to your quoted MVA regulations, you guys gotta just straight up talk like a Harvard-educated white man. I've been on RS for a long time, read a lot, so I'm used to how casual you guys post. But that casual talk doesn't help offer credibility when it counts, like for issues like this. That means cut the swearing, bullet your arguments, make concise points, and check your spelling/grammar. Think about it like you're the manager sifting through resumes. You go through dozens, maybe hundreds for an open position. It's tiresome. You'll take any mistake in that cover letter or resume to exclude that person cause you know there's a lot more to sift through. That means fixing your typos and not using heatscore email addresses or IG handles (surprise, sending an email from 69mackdaddyluvs2fap@gmail.com doesn't help you at all). Same principle would apply to this. You don't want to give them any margin, inch, or excuse to write you off. Just my 0.02. edit: If you guys do start a organized campaign, I definitely wouldn't do it in this thread. I'd start a new one to focus on that topic specifically vs. this thread which seems to go several different directions. |
Out of curiosity, let's say the person who started all this with the officer finally apologized as stated from a couple of posts back (that according the to grapevine he did) and it's still happening. What is the end game for the officers involved in this spike? Is it to completely eradicate the modified cars from the streets? |
