If your just looking to get into a dispensary then why not see one of the doctors there? Yes, given some people don't want to pay $60 at Imedikate or $100 at Westcoast Medicann but it's almost a for sure to get in. If your trying to get the MMAR card then good luck even if your family doctor says yes. That card isn't as easy to get depending on your condition. If it's simply chronic pain or sleeping disorder good luck.

I would go to an iMediKate physician, but the website specifically states that they cannot refer you to a doctor. Am I missing something?

I would expect any doctor to charge a small fee for filling out the health Canada form, since my understanding is that it's not billable to MSP. As long as they aren't clearly trying to profit from the controversial nature of my request, I have no problem paying.

You should backtrace the thread a bit and you'll find out how this works. Basically at iMed and WestCoast they have on site "Doctors" that will fill sign off the forms for you. What you are thinking about (medical card from health Canada) is a completely and totally different thing. When we are talking about the dispensaries that are around the greater Vancouver area, we are talking about compassion club memberships. These are not operated by the government, and has absolutely no affiliation with Health Canada. They operate on a cash basis, and it costs 60$ to see the in house physican. They will talk to you about your problem and basically ask you if smoking helps your condition. If it does, then you are accepted and you are allowed to buy marijuana at the locations. These do not give you any legal rights to possess, but there are a great selection of dispensaries all over the place. The reason why there are so many compassion clubs all around Vancouver is because the police understand that there are legitimate reasons that people smoke marijuana- it helps with many conditions. They also understand the slow process that it takes for health Canada to actually issue you a medical marijauna card (the one that actually allows you to posses). There is a huge backlog and it takes about a year to a year and a half for the whole process. At the same time you need to have a SPECIALIST sign off on the form saying that you have tried every single OTHER ALTERNATIVE (that means much harmful pharmaceutical drugs). If you are interested in trying to apply for one I have posted the links several pages back or you can find them easily on the Health Canada. The benefit of getting a Health Canada card is obvious - you get to carry legally and you can easily apply for grower status that allows you to grow more then enough for yourself, or apply to have someone grow for you. But the process is long and tedious, and you need to renew it once a year. There is also a fee involved. The compassion club is an easy way to avoid having to deal with the black market in order to get your medicine in a safe environment. These people are friendly and understand what you are going through. They usually have a good selection and also carry edibles.

I have to say though, these physicians do not have real doctor degrees and are often doctors of alternative medicines. They usually offer different approaches to your problem over conventional medicine usually through more long term treatments and less aggressive diagnosing (such as dietary changes, chiro, chinese medicine, etc)

I agree with Canada's stance right now on dispensaries- it really helps patients as long as people don't abuse it. iMed even delivers for a fee of 10$. iMed has opened a new location recently as well. I think they got to 1000 members pretty quickly.

^Thank you very much for all the information, it really helped.

I just read the entire thread in reverse haha
I learned than Vansterdam is only 20 and actually quit (wtf), Murdoc is an intense stoner that loves his volcano, ws6ta smokes before work outs and a various bits of very helpful helpful information on dispensaries. The important part is this though, and I decided to quote it just in case anyone else is searching for information in the future and reads this page.

as for those who are messaging about the medicinal card, I'm just going to post these fool proof steps here and you SHOULD be able to get your medical cannabis AND your card all in 1 day if you follow these steps:

1) Google iMedikate, look up phone number address
And for those who are too high to even do step 1 here it is
iMedikate - iMedikate
6128 Fraser Street (at 45th
604.800.6933

2) The doctor is only there on Tuesday and Friday afternoons so you SHOULD call in advance and set up a time to go in. (you don't have to but it will make the whole process faster)

3) Bring $60 for the doctor fee, there is no charge for the membership itself.

4) Once you get there, get a form from the receptionist, fill that shit out (takes 2 minutes).

5) Now honestly, I don't think you need a real problem to be able to get this card. For me, I told the doctor I have migraines and that my head hurts like shit, so smoking marijuana helps me. My buddy told him that he had harsh insomnia and smokes a lot to get by the day.

5) Doctor will ask you some random questions but stick to what you know and you should be out of there in about 5 minutes.

6) VOILA! YOU HAVE YOUR GREEN CARD AND ARE READY TO SMOKE/EAT
SOME GOOD SHIT!

NOW if you DONT want to pay the $60 doctor fee, you will have to go into iMedikate and grab their doctors form for your own family doctor to fill out stating they are aware you are using medicinal marijuana. Hope this helps the RS stoners

iMedikate - How to Apply

If you are seeing their doctor you only need to fill out the Imedikate Registration Form and Code Of Conduct forms. The last 2 forms are for if you are seeing another doctor.

Personally I have never tried the Iolite but there's more info about the MFLB and other vapes here: trees: help

Hope this helps.

Thanks I did a search and found the FAQ on batteries you were talking about. Sounds pretty hurting how you can't use other batteries or if you do the label has to be peeled wtf? That's the first time I've ever heard of any product for anything where you need to do such a thing. I also don't like how 1 battery is only good enough for 1 person to use. Sounds like Id be recharging quite a bit.

I got an extra set of batteries for free when I bought it on ebay so I have 4 in total. Personally I don't think the battery thing is too big of an issue. Just make sure you have a couple extra lying around if you're going to be using it a lot I guess.

Yea my friend had one and said the battery isn't actually as bad as the website claims (1 battery for 1 session) might give it a shot since it's on $100. Thanks for the info.

I got a MFLB from ebay too from vaporizers.ca originally ordered from vape-store.ca but they turned out to be crooks that were processing orders without any actual stock on hand and could not be reached by their various phone numbers. So Paypal refunded me. Vaporizers.ca had a super pack which I bid on and it came out to about $149 after taxes and express shipping. Came with 2 glass stems, 1 plastic stem, 1 ft whip, some legal herb (The Bulldog from Amsterdam), a 4peice grinder, 4 batteries, cherry flavored drops ( I hate cherry flavored stuff. Only the real fruit is good to me), and 1 nico herb disc ( I have no clue what this is for )

Now here is the kicker. I've got chronic pain and 1 load in the MF doesn't really do anything for me. depends on the strains. I'd love to get some swiss cheese but iMedikate ran out. And just yesterday they ran out of Hempstar too :(. So I was recommended from my friend that I should try Rock Bubba and Jack Herer for my pain. So far they work okay. Nuken works okay too for daytime pain. But for sleeping swisscheese has worked the best. Chronic pain like I have which runs from the low back upto my neck is something I wouldn't wish on anyone. I've been dealing with it for over 3yrs now and every Fall the pain is greatly increased due to the cold weather.

If anyone knows any dispensary in MetroVancouver that has Swisscheese let me know because its cheap and super effective for pain.
Or basically any strain high in CBD's.

UK Cheese has 2% CBD which is the same level as Hempstar and UK Cheese is available at pretty much every place from Imedikate to MetPotNow - Westcoast Medicann etc
