If being provided with inside accommodations isn’t enough for you, then there probably isn’t anything that’s going to be good enough. Make it a crime to setup an encampment on the streets.
I can’t stress this enough, there is -nowhere- I’ve been that looks as bad has as many people littering the streets at Vancouver, it’s fucking embarrassing

It's great if it happens, but this isn't some new cutting edge approach. It's just words until it's done, like all the times prior.

They've removed a large number of them already, I assume individuals have taken the offer to move to a housing option (whether it be an SRO or something else). It seems like this is to remove the last bunch who are the real hardcore, extremists, or mentally ill individuals who refuse any kind of housing alternative. I feel they (city, police, social workers, etc.) have done a fair, compassionate job in this.

The dangers internal to the camp, as well as the external impacts on the local areas are much less severe.
The city just needs to have the fortitude to rout them before they get a foothold again.

It's going to be very hard to lure businesses back to the area, especially with the decline in demand for commercial space.
No businesses, no traffic, no reason for people to go there, back to no rules.

How about just enforce the ones we currently have?
Obviously no one wants to be right in the DTES, but as I’ve said before, my wife’s company moved from Homer and Pender due to the situation, office space leasing is down 20%+ through the downtown core. Granville etc. looks like a third world country.
Clean this shit up.

I am not super up-to-date on the story, but I seem to remember reading that CSIS and/or RCMP saying that they have briefed Turdeau on the foreign interference in the last federal election, but Turdeau has claimed in front of the camera in Parliament that he has never been briefed on something like that. Naturally, those things don't add up.
With Telford being Turdeau's Chief of Staff, obviously she is expected to know stuff -- at least when it comes to what materials get through to Turdeau. Turdeau and the Libs would of course not want her to talk.

How fucked is it that the head of one of the worst police services in the country can make this kind of money. Does he receive a controversy bonus every time something illegal or immoral happens within his department?
His 3 deputy chiefs are paid more than other Canadian chiefs. Maybe this is what people are talking about with the "defund the police" movement. Not closing the police store. Quote: |
