I think you’d be very hard pressed to find anyone in Finance who is openly a liberal voter.

If you’re a double major in romantic languages living in a shared house, yea you vote liberal lol

If we're gonna play the "people I know" game for this data point then I'll say that us high earning tech workers are overwhelmingly left of centre. We typically only become right wing if we become a founder or CEO, the rest of us, even those of us who are not down with the "radical woke left" are, generally Liberal voters.

In the US it's a bit more even but we're still talking 70% voting Dems or so.

Great68 04-11-2025 01:18 PM

"My anecdote is more factual than your anecdote!!"

Hondaracer 04-11-2025 01:22 PM

Well I’m not just talking out of my ass, I know 4-5 people in finance who make excellent money with BA’s and not one would ever consider voting Liberal.

My brother is a P.Eng, would never dream of voting liberal, as would most of his colleagues. I work with a few technologists and engineers now who lean left but it’s moreso because they are broke and have the typical mentality of scary cons are worse for them than liberals who put them where they are

CivicBlues 04-11-2025 01:30 PM

It's a lil sus that every time you have an stance on something you seem to have a huge reservoir of personal connections that fit the exact anecdote to draw from. You discuss politics with teachers, lawyers, doctors, nurses, factory workers, construction workers, investment bankers, millionaires, billionaires, etc.? You must be the most well adjusted popular internet forum posting basement dweller in the history of the world lol.

So why are all the richest neighborhoods in Canada solidly Liberal and have been for decades?

You should probably talk to your "friends" again, pretty much everyone pre-inauguration was going to vote Conservative to kick out Trudeau.

yray 04-11-2025 01:33 PM

I know a world renown economist that's voting liberal

his name is carney :troll:

mikemhg 04-11-2025 01:35 PM

LOL anecdotal experience is just that, anecdotal.

Some of my engineer buddies are super liberal, I have a good buddy from high school who's a M.Eng, works in mining operations, most liberal guy you'll meet.

Who cares :lol

This sounds so childish lol

My dad’s an electrical engineer and votes Liberal and my sister is a brain technician at the hospital same thing.

Romantic languages??? The fuck you talking about

Everyone in this thread save for you and Vwhatrverhisnameis is a “libtard” and they’re all very well off and highly educated.

I dont like freeland either and she was in over her head as finance minister but she earned a degree from harvard even though it was a hondaracer hating BA so she’s not dumb.

If carney ran as conservative PM wonder what hondaracer would say?

We're just a couple of peasants in comparison to the social heft that is the typical RS forumer brings to the table.

When Conservatives talk family values they often mean the traditional values they had in the past - the past that was racist, exclusionary, rigid, and which only focused on helping those who are like them.

I find Conservatives that talk the least about family values are the ones that live it the best - I've known a lot of Mormons and some Mennonites over the years and they are some of the very, very best people I've ever met. Kind, open hearted, supportive, inclusive, there for you etc - all the good shit about families they do.

How many East Asians or other ethnic minorities are regular recreational drug users?

Dunno.. what can I say I know a lot of people from various industries.

Most people I know who I see on a regular basis I’ve known for a long time and are all well established in their lives, own their homes, have families or are established professionals. I don’t know too many labourers or social workers and the ones I do know they are either A) completely disengaged in politics or B) too embarrassed to say they support liberals to openly discuss it.

Through family and a lot of family friends who are all in the construction industry as well, the construction industry as a whole knows, or at the very least, perceives, the liberals to be bad for business.

As I’ve said before though I almost never discuss politics in person as it’s pointless and exhausting but I know where most people stand

I’d say the exact same thing as I do now, one idiot at the top doesn’t make the party and my values still align with the party as a whole VS the leader.

68style 04-11-2025 02:10 PM

Better to have an idiot at the top and a bunch of questionable unproven people below I guess

I'm neither well of nor well educated but I am a libtard.
It's not that hard to draw the conclusion from a quick conversation these days where someone lays on the political spectrum.
You can say "everyone I know is a con/lib" or you can probably assume that those that don't match up with you probably avoid the subject of politics when it's obvious they don't align.
I'm not gonna mouth off some conservative I meet unless they say something egregious like bringing up some sort of "child grooming gays" bullshit or some dipfuck "fauci is George soros unborn son who was built by chemtrails" dumbfuckery, so chances are anyone that's going to get into a deep political conversation does so because they see me as an ally in the matter.
That's why "everyone you talk to is voting ______"

this is so spot on. there are countless posts by honda that use this same anecdote tactic. it must just be the way he talks to everyone about anything he wants to convince them of, not just on this forum lol.

Jason00S2000 04-11-2025 02:53 PM

Do you people take yourselves seriously? This whole page has been HondaRacer arguing that his people are more yuppie establishment conservatives while the great86 dude said all his yuppie friends are woke...

Like guys, you're both voting for the same, boring establishment teams, one in red, one in blue... :lol :lol :lol

bcrdukes 04-11-2025 03:10 PM

Great68...this is getting old.

westopher 04-11-2025 03:22 PM

Being spoken down to by a guy that is more miserable and worse off than any of us in here is pretty rich.
I genuinely hope you get out of this hole or whatever and figure out how to be happier in this world we live in, but until you stop being such a self righteous asshole, you're not gonna figure it out.

Hondaracer 04-11-2025 03:38 PM

Everyone have a nice frosty beer this fine afternoon and enjoy the weekend :kisses:

To be fair to Hondaracer, I am probably a bigger BA hater than him.
