Automotive Nostalgia

remember back in the days when we thought stuff like underglow neon lights, graphics on your car, wide mouth body kits, chrome wheels, spinners, chrome spinners were cool

Also recently saw someone with a s13 that had a auto seatbelt as well as a Cressida with a electronic dash

Time really flies

Badhobz 12-06-2018 04:33 AM

I still like underglow. Too bad it's illegal. I always thought it was cool as hell. That and backfire from the exhausts.

twitchyzero 12-06-2018 06:14 AM

are the parking pod lighting when the doors open illegal?

eclipseman 12-06-2018 07:31 AM

The only thing I distinctly remember, is my dancing neon on my mugen powered 92 toyota camry. This was in 97 or 98.

Mr.Money 12-06-2018 07:34 AM

underglow is illegal in vancouver?...interesting,i thought it was legal long as it isn't blinking or flashing

smaller places its okay but i see nobody do it anymore,it was like a fad in the 2000's.

Automotive Nostalgia?...i'll say honda civic's with kickass bodykits & import jdm Rims...not this ricer shit with poorly done body styling & GT wing that seems mismatched with cheap euro tailights on oversized 19'' bulky chrome rims.

i remember walking into canadian tire back in the day and they had a whole shelve with LED lights.u don't see it anymore.

Gas at less than 60 cents/Liter.

No bike lanes.

I kind of miss the late 90's and early 00's.

mos_skeeto 12-06-2018 10:39 AM

I always wanted underglow but not for when you're driving. I wanted it to work like the dome lights in your car when you unlock a car. Say lets say you're walking up to your car, you hit the button on your remote, car glows. You start the car and it shuts off. I know this is possible and probably not very hard to do, but it's a lot of effort for something so trivial.

Modern Lincolns and Jaguars (and I'm sure some other luxury brands) have something like this.

I still have underglow. Ricers gonna rice! I have The Fast and Furious playing in my car DVD player right now too. I kind of chuckle when I think of what people used to say when I had my Green EK "Ricer, You'll grow up one day and want a real car." Ha jokes on them. I still own a Honda, on rims, with Underglow, and a custom sound system. I'll turbo it next year too. Fuck haters, do what you like. Bring back rice!

You just wire a relay to trigger off the dome or footwell light circuit. They're usually called puddle lights, I'm adding some to my Jeep since the sliders have perfect holes to mount them.

I remember the days in HS days on my lunch and recess, I would drool over something like this.

A black widows front bumper on a Honda Accord.

You can get genuine Nissan accessories underglow kits for most current models ;D
Usually referred to as "welcome lighting kits."
It comes on when you unlock/lock, shut off the engine and open the door. Shuts off when engine starts. Something along those lines. Basically how mos_skeeto described it

Okay, I genuinely laughed out loud.

Automatic Seatbelts are STANDARD on all USDM cars in the late 80's / early 90's... it is to counter for manufactures to install actual AIRBAGS.
