Top U.S. corporations from chipmakers to Google have frozen the supply of critical software and components to Huawei Technologies Co., complying with a Trump administration crackdown that threatens to choke off China’s largest technology company.
security patches, Play store, Gmail etc will no longer be directly supported for the second largest phonemaker
Intel, Broadcom and Qualcomm will also halt component contracts
I warned people about buying huawei phones a long time ago
Buying state sponsored phones is just gross, no matter how cool the technology they put into it. And usually the phones act and feel like cheap crap anyway. Just not worth it.

As someone from RS mention Huawei is pretty much funded by the gov. So they can sell their phone at a lose to gain market share and also banks in China have to lend them money (again coz is back by the gov.). So Huawei can blow money on whatever they like and not care about profits at all while other companies like Apple, Samsung, LG etc etc don't have that backing so they have to make sure their products is able to make a profit and thus the high price for their products. If things contiune the way they are and when Huawei wipe the competition and just raise their price to what they want.
I don't give a shit about Huawei, I'm more worried about what cray cray China is gonna do with all these sanctions. Huawei is basically just a Chinese state enterprise. Look at the impacts on Canada with that extradition of Huawei woman.
Fucking Trump is gonna ruin us all. The economy, Iran, China, this retard is going to set the world on fire.

I'm curious how this will play out. Where will Apple and Google source their components from? Made in India now? Considering all the factories are still in China to make products that undercut the made in USA stuff
This ban/cut-off will barely make an impact on the Huawei giant; with the exception of Northern America sales of course.
It has been said that Huawei saw this coming, and had stockpiled a good amount of Qualcomm chips for manufacturing its phones.
Additionally, Huawei are not sitting-ducks, their R&D division prolly had production-ready in -house-made chips and OS for deployment.
ZTE succumbed in the Americas earlier last year, yet they are still above the waters back home in mainland China. Huawei on the other hand is 5x bigger that ZTE, so they should fair ok even without NA markets.
Google should have done this a long time ago, China's "great firewall"/censorship banned Google since 2010. If you ban Google ... why the hell should they allow you to use Android?
As far as surveillance goes, they might be on par. But the states are much less overt about it.
The video you posted says that Indian government has enacted policy to make basic components in India, increasing in scope over time.
Human rights is not the reason why the Huawei ban is happening. Also more components down the road may be made in India but the companies will still be Chinese.

Because Google makes money off the app store. Huawei's the #2 smartphone maker without the US market. If Google didn't allow them to use Android, Google would be missing out on a huge chunk of revenue.
I don't think Google wants to do this, they're forced to so they comply with Trump's ban.
