Canadian but my grandparents came from the Ukraine and Germany.

RRxtar 10-23-2019 06:34 PM

4th generation Canadian. Scottish on my dads side. Irish Luxembourg and German on my mom's.

Boostslut 10-23-2019 09:13 PM

I'm born in Burnaby, but my mother is from Netherlands (Friesland), and my father was Welsh.

SkinnyPupp 10-23-2019 10:41 PM

Or perhaps others like me were a little reluctant because if you're gen X/gen Y Chinese then it's almost certain both your parents are Chinese.. and that's nothing too interesting to post about lol

Nonetheless, I was born in Vancouver but my Mom is from Hong Kong and my Dad is from Guangzhou.

What is your origin/ethnicity/nationality?

Dad - Scottish
Mother - Italian

As far as I'm concerned I'm just a human LUL

You're all caucasian?!
:seriously::seriously::seriously:

Srsly tho, I'm always amazed as to the demographics on this site and how they change over the years.

Cars brought us together. But something else keeps us together, whether it's politics, arguing, buy&sell, or food :fuckyea:

My last name is Italian, but our thanks to WW1 and WW2, the area my paternal family came from is now modern day Croatia and Slovenia. Maternal family is English/Ukranian. I'm straight up lumberjack Canadian though. I play hockey, climb hills and am capable of building an emergency ice shelter if I had to. If that doesn't scream Canadiana, I don't know what does :D

yray 10-24-2019 08:46 AM

fliptuner 10-24-2019 08:57 AM

dad side been here since 81'

mom side around the whole family moved here in 92'

Great68 10-24-2019 02:02 PM

Both my parents came from Poland

My Mom came over in 1962 (she was 9)
My Dad came over in 1979 (He was 25)

Kind of funny the differences coming as a child vs adult makes. My mom has no accent at all, while my dad's is still pretty heavy after all these years. Also funny that out of all the Canadian dudes she dated, my mom decided to marry a Polish FOB.

hud 91gt 10-24-2019 03:30 PM

If we’re bringing Wars into this I’m Polish too cause borders move. My wife did one of the DNA tests. Interesting to see who was screwing who way back when. Lol.

Bro it's no more boring than anyone else's... Especially if you know the regions where your family came from. There's so much diversity in the regions of China! (before the great revolution)

My wife's family comes from Guilin on one side (via Shanghai) and I believe Xiamen on the other. Her mom's side fled to HK in the 50's and her dad's side was in HK a couple generations before that. This difference actually leads to contrary opinions on the current situation, and some very awkward moments.

rb 10-24-2019 04:05 PM

Both parents should've been villagers from China but were born and raised in India. Grandparents fled there due to the Nanking Massacre.

Proud of my parents/family for essentially coming from the slums in Calcutta to make a decent life in Canada.

Being young helps. I speak English and Cantonese without accents because I grew up speaking both, I sound like a local wherever I go. I speak French like a fob though.. likely because I didn't learn it until high school.

I'm the opposite. I was born in Richmond, went back to HK when I was younger, but I was mostly in Canada from 4 y/o and on wards. But I speak English with a slight Chinese accent (can't say my THs, like three/free, thought/thot), and I speak Cantonese with a white guy accent (think Mayor Gregor).

I learned French in high school, but don't remember much but the basics. Ironically, I was really into "Tong Hua - Guang Liang" throughout high school, so my mando pronunciation is more on point than my Canto pronunciation.

Hahaha wtf. It's so hard reading this shit. Shanghainese doesn't translate well in pingying.

"I like you but I don't wanna beat your pants (or I cannot be your pants) !?!?" Is that what you said hahahha!?
