The true set it and forget it are those powder solutions from Costco. 20+ years of shelf life (really, they are eatable even past that. But you get the idea) and those are down to science as far as what’s needed for body to survive.
They probably aren’t tasty, but for about $1000 or less you can get enough for a family of 4 for over a month iirc. If you truly want the once for all solution, there’s a lot of value there.

If you ever are in that situation where you have to risk it, follow the foragers rule. If you’re unsure, eat a thumbnail amount and wait an hour. No adverse effects? Try a small palm sized amount and wait another hour. Still no ill effects? Then it’s probably okay

While I wait for the whole house compressor to take shape, what's a decent portable one to get? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If your talkin generators cant really go wrong with a honda.
As for size you'll need to calculate your amp/wattage needs and select a model from there.

Fairly low on stock already, but peek at the checkouts because people aren't paying attention to the limit of 2 only, so the cashier takes away the surplus. (this was at about 07:30 this morning)

Actually, conventional generator might be better for my use. Inverter generators are efficient but costlier and aren't as powerful. More for RV's and Food Trucks, lol.
I've always been a Honda fanboi........... Mugen Power! I've heard Yamaha is pretty good and reliable.

I've never had a chance to test it out but it seemed like a handy trick on Survivorman. Now might be a good time to binge watch that show actually.

I ordered another box of masks (cuz I wasn't as prepared as I thought I was) and the users acct was frozen by ebay as I was trying to pay.
Another listing got removed after I had paid, and ebay issued me a warning note saying I may not get my item, but don't worry as their money back guarantee was in place (I ordered from a user that has a 100% rating and several hundred ratings)
Side note, these fuckers are marking up masks like 10X the price -_-

Looks like cleaning wipes like lysol and purell are slowly making their way back onto shelves.
I think costco had some and save on for the early risers first in liners
