2021 TLX - Full release on May 28th

news: https://jalopnik.com/this-is-apparen...lmo-1843688057

It looks like it'll get a 2L Turbo that's in the RDX to replace the 3.5L V6. The Type-S will get a 3L twin-turbo v6. All models get double-wishbone front suspension as opposed to Macpherson struts.

Full release will be on May 28th

2.2" wider and mid-frame reinforcement should be very nice...constant torque up to 5200rpm in the 2.0T is interesting too

trackpad still there

Looks pretty good lets hope the pricing is decently competitive with the German rivals. People in the entry level luxury market will most likely still buy a C/3/A4 mostly due to brand recognition and aggressive lease programs.

Based on the photos, the proportions of the centre console looks really odd, kinda stubby, cramped, and almost dated in a sense (read: very Honda-like).

The same interior styling language seems to have been applied much better in the RDX.

The exterior however, looks gorgeous. The turbo V6 should be a banger too.

can you even call them rivals because Acura's a few rungs below BMW or Lexus

not like Infiniti bad but these days they pretty much has to make sure Kia (Stinger) and Mazda (upcoming inline-6 RWD) won't steal its lunch

Is the AWD still FWD biased?

Why is this so much cheaper than a G80? Are they not both mid size luxury sedans? Then again, parked next to my cousin's 5 series, my Genesis is quite a bit bigger. It's more 7 series size.

Current TLX falls more in line with the G70 in terms of size

did it really take 17 years to make the TL catch up to other brand's performance metrics? (infiniti, BMW, Benz similar offering) it's been pretty stagnant since the 6mt TL of 2004.

I'm definitely not a fan of the 4G TL's looks, but I highly doubt it was way behind of a 2009 G37 metrics?

^ Agree, the G is just as dated as the TLX if not even more. The only thing that's good about the current gen Q50/Q60 is the engine (and looks on the Q60)

Type-s varriant will get a 3L turbo 10-speed auto and SHAWD as standard no hp figures but estimated to be 350hp

All cars get double wishbone front suspension and multiline rear. Type S even gets Brembo front brakes

Wheelbase (in.) 113.0 (+3.7)
Length (in.) 194.6 (+2.9)
Width (in.) 75.2 (+2.2)
Height (in.) 56.4 (-0.6)
slightly bigger interior volume at 93.4 cu ft (+0.1) and trunk 13.5cu ft (+0.3)

That size is kinda ridiculous - 195" in a "compact/midsize" segment competing against a 186" 3 series/A4. I sure hope there's a smaller sedan coming for the more typical tastes of Canadians.

Its longer than the new E class.
Now i wonder how much it weighs.

Was hoping they would put a DCT in the Type-S.
Other than that, it looks good.

It's about time for them to refresh the ILX. an upscale civic does make sense.

https://driving.ca/acura/auto-news/n...as-much-torque

The Acura TLX Type S debuted with gorgeous concept car styling, which was enough to get our attention, but now we’re getting a better idea of the power that will back up those good looks.

The new 3.0-litre V6 produces 355 horsepower and 354 lb.-ft. of torque, the company said late Jult, which is 65 hp more than the old TLX V6.

Those power figures slot the TLX Type S perfectly in between the Audi S4 and the BMW M340i.

Power is sent to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission; and speaking of wheels, they’re 20 inches across and feature 255/35 all-season tires as standard. Performance tires are an extra-cost option.

While there isn’t a manual option for the TLX, we’re holding out hope other Type-S-badged vehicles will have the option to row your own gears.

The base-model TLX will receive a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder producing 272 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque.

Active dampers are an option for the base model, but they’re standard on the Type S.

Outside of the output news, Acura also announced two base-model TLX vehicles will participate in the Pike’s Peak Hill Climb in 2020. One of them will be tuned slightly with a bigger turbocharger and intercooler; but the other will be closer to stock, and driven by Justin Lumbard.

A Type S version of the TLX will also act as the pace car for the event, and will be driven by chassis engineer Nick Robinson.

We won’t see the TLX hit showrooms until the spring of 2021, but you’ll be able to watch those two of ’em fly up Pikes Peak on August 30.

Would anyone even buy this? I hardly see any new 3 series or c class anymore. I feel everyone buying a new small sedan are getting model 3s.

Bumping an older thread but just got into a TLX a-spec for the week. If you guys have any questions let me know.

1st impression
-not bad, drives well.
-hood is long
-cowl is low
-engine note is as boring as most 4 cylinders
-good pickup/torque

The 2.0t?
FWD or AWD?
How's the rear seat space?
How's the transmission? There were quirks in the RDX which I didn't like, specifically when you slowed down to a crawl, it stays in a higher gear and it took a longer split second than I would like to down shift and go.

The long hood thing is weird, it's a transverse layout right?

In the market at the end of the year / 2022 for a mid-sized sedan.

Questions for you

1. Would you buy this?
2. If yes, which package/trim would you pick, and options?
3. If you weren't to buy this, why?
4. Any recommendations / alternatives?
5. Is the interior the usual Acura interior in terms of materials?

I've always felt that Acura's interiors aren't the greatest when compared to say its Japanese counterparts, and definitely its European competitors, despite it being compared to them. I find that their interior materials don't age very well.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: Are there Mugen and Spoon parts for it? but not troll
