For what ME charges to build it for you it's a no-brainer, you get better parts for less money and zero additional work on your part.

What does ME charge to put it together?
I generally feel the same way as Zedbra that it isn’t worth the risk, especially if ME is testing the system prior to delivery like NCiX used to do.
I can build/repair/figure out most things but last time I bought a computer I was debating on building it myself and then I realized my $650 CPU probably wasn’t worth the risk.
I’ve had some sketchy experiences simply instaing ram that wasn’t seated properly due to my heat sink, didn’t realize anything was wrong until I smelt the burning lol

Love you said that, literally the same thing happened to me back in the day when I was assembling computers for a computer shop back in my teens. I had seated the ram in the wrong direction, booted the PC to the smell of burning, fried the entire motherboard. Needless to say, never made that mistake again.

ME charges $50, and they test it before delivery. So it's well worth the cost if you are getting them to assemble you a system.

I picked up the computer today from Memory Express. Rather than getting in and out of there, for some reason all of the sale pricing wasn't popping up and they were wanting to charge almost $200 more than my invoice. The girl and I were joking as half an hour passed by while her manager tried to fix it all properly, suggesting they should get to know some computer people. Anyways, the build was $10 more for a splitter cable they needed to add for the rear fan - that's why it's worth having them build it.
My wife and I had already decided to give this computer to my son today rather than him waiting a month for his birthday. First, ME offers a 30 day warranty over the counter. 2nd, my wife can get her computer back as my son has been locking it up for months, and 3rd - his Bday is too damn close to Xmas anyways.
I got him to help pull it out of the car and when he realized this computer was for him (he thought I bought myself a new computer)- he was without words; one happy soon-to-be 12 year old. I can't say little, as he is taller than mom and up to my eyes already. He helped me load Windows (another $15 key from Amazon), do all the updates and downloads, then it was all smiles for miles.
Thanks again, roastpuff. That beer(s) IOU just doubled.
