Looking for a recommendation for adding insulation to our attic.
I did a butt load of napkin math, and nothing about doing it myself makes any sort of sense.

renting the machine and buying the pink insulation that you just load into it is prob the fastest way. one person stays downstairs w/ the machine and loads the bags in, one person stays upstairs and moves the hose around.
however i'd prob also rather pay someone to do it, it's not that much work for people who know what they're doing.

Napkin math says DIY fiberglass soft sheets no good?
Measure stud to stud > get sqft > lay it down. 4sqft every minute accounting for cutting ends to size. Should take you 4hrs assuming your attic isnt 3ft tall like some.
Done in a day, should cost 800-1600$ depending on your R value
Im doing the same before winter for my garage, 0 insulation. 400sqft will cost me 300$ including the suit
Option B: drive to ontario and 3rd at 6am, hire a mexican for 20$/hr, good to go

My opening to the attic is a 20"x30" trap door. The insulation batts can't go through in packages. Opening them and taking the batts one by one is what's stopping me from doing it myself. Moving 300 batts of fiberglass sounds like a bad time.

Click specifications
Suppliers literally package it in that size, because everyone roof hatch, is identical. No one would buy it if it didnt fit in 99% of ceiling hatches

So I was looking at rockwool and home depot, and one of the sizing on their chart is wrong and I obviously didn't think too much about it cause I don't think 
I was leaning toward doing rockwool cause I didn't want to deal wtih fiberglass, but wow fiberglass is like almost like 1/2 the price.

Pick up a clear suit, respirator, gloves
Get your wife to tape off all the seams on you, wait for a "colder" day to go up there, as you might get sweaty, fall/spring are perfect times of the year for this work.
When you go back down, go outside, take your suit off slowly, then take a cold shower, cold showers supposably close up your pores and dont allow any mystery glass to "stick".
Dont wear any nice clothing for the next day/ two incase any fiberglass is left on you.
Ive done fiberglass insul many times before (hvac duct) usually no suit, its not that bad, the above is just extra precaution to not be itchy.
Report back once you have an extra 1000$ to spend on lobster

Looking for recommendations for a fence installer if anyone has any experience with someone good. So many options on Google but of course RS real experience is better.
Nothing fancy needed, but has to be posts in concrete and cedar fence panels for about 30'

please have it down on paper and have someone monitor it. It NEEDS to be at least 2 - 5 feet post down with concrete.
It makes a hell of a difference when it's done right. after 10 years it just falls over. If done right, it'll last forever. Then again, my buddy paid more to do this  | |
