I've got the collector's book of the special quarters they released, and one of each mascot plushy. A few items of clothing, but that's it

I started getting into it well after the Olympics were over. The warehouse/liquidation place that was behind the Brighton Avenue Costco had amazing deals on overstocked items. They were giving away lots of stuff, too.

Nice receiver and even more impressive, the Sony turntable.

and something about "Limited amount" gets me hyped before buying it. its like you're only the chosen few.
I'm sort of like that, but I have some things I paid way more than I should have. Definitely over catalog value. Simply because I love it. I have some stamps that I just stare at because they are that gorgeous.

One of a kind is what you'd want in your collection, but I know some people prefer the ones where there are a limited amount. Like 50 to 100 known to be in the hands of the collectors. Those fetch pretty good money, because they are obtainable.

If any of you know a postal worker, Canada Post printed out a limited amount of stamps with the theme, "Thank you." Given to postal workers for their hard work during this pandemic. It was a package that included two booklets of stamps (12 each), a collector's lapel pin and a letter from a top official. One booklet of 12 stamps has been regularly selling at local auctions for 200 to 250 bucks. The stamps were not sold to the public. Only to Canada Post workers. Not even postal workers at Shoppers Drug Mart, convenience stores, etc. got any. You'd figure there should be a lot of them out there. Nope. Some postal workers that should have received them didn't. Someone is hoarding them. Perhaps a supervisor? Anyway, some postal workers who did get them, just used them for postage or threw them out. Yikes!

I purchased two complete unopened sets (2 booklets, pin, and letter in box) for $200.00 each. Nobody will know how much they'll be worth in the end, until the amount of printed copies are officially released. In this case, I didn't purchase these to make money. It's somewhat rare (for now). As for the design, it's a flying postal truck with a rainbow trailing behind it. Something an elementary kid would draw. lol.

Another stamp issue that has been released recently is the Chinese New Year Cycle stamps. Canada Post issued a new stamp every year depicting the animal of that year. They've been doing this for 24 years. two cycles. They didn't have one this year, because the programme ended last year. But........... they introduced a set of stamps from all of the last 12 years in one set. The uncut press sheets and the souvenir sheets sold out in less than a week. Booklets are a dime a dozen, because they are "P" stamps. The others are in the denomination of US and International rates. The original designs did not have the current rates on them, so these are special stamps. If your postal outlet happens to have the sheet or uncut press sheet (in a tube, duh), get it.

There's now a report of two varieties due to an error in printing. That's probably why my standing order with Canada Post hasn't been sent out. Release date was January 15th. Good thing I was on the ball and found two at the postal outlet at Lougheed Mall.

Did any of you take advantage of the Canada Mint offering of uncut dollar and two dollar bills? They were offered to the general public at slightly over face value. Uncut, serialized, real tender. They haven't skyrocketed in value, but I missed out on them. Now, if I want them, I have to pay catalog value or try to get them at an auction.

I'm more interested in the Centennial Dollar Bills

You can see the picture? For some reason it's not showing up for me.

Yeah some of the records were in a moist basement and had a bit of mold, so I had to clean as I played them.
I bought the amp & turntable off UsedVic for $250 and hooked them up to a set of PSB Bookshelf speakers (also UsedVic). It actually sounds really good, rated at only 20W per channel (at 0.02%THD)

The turntable's needle broke shortly after I bought it so I replaced the cartridge with an AT95E. I did the whole calibration thing at that point, but haven't touched it since.

I wish I had the original Sony VC-20 cartridge that came with the table, they're rare and worth a mint (like $300+ used)

I just got this in my e-mail. Ever wAnder how Pt. Roberts happened? And, the Juan de Fuca Islands? Quite the collection of interesting stuff from Gerald Wellburn, a well known collector of all things BC. Guys like him preserved history with his collection of stamps and documents.

Finally, received the Zippo Lighter display case. Cheaply made, but what the hell. Need to clean the fingerprints off the lighters and the case. Spoilered due to size of images. Yeah, too lazy to do anything about it, lol.

Spoiler!

Now that I have a chance to see the collection in a single box/case, I realized, I'm missing an important one. The Blue Jays!

Cavan Bigio, Guererro Jr., Bo Bichette, Gurriel, Kirk, Hyun-Jin, Teoscar Hernandez, Rowdy Tellez, Waguspack, etc. What a great team.............

Anyway, ordered one from the official MLB Shop. Once it arrives, it's going to be right next to the BC Lions lighter.

https://www.mlbshop.com/toronto-blue...644-1137623111

Dat shipping, though........... do not qualify for free shipping, 'cause Canada. Damn border shut down. Better than being dead from Covid, I guess.

If any of you see a Hard Rock Vancouver Zippo, let me know. Here I live in Vancouver, and I don't have one, lol.

I wouldn't say I collect it, but I've got a bunch of memorabilia that was handed out to attendees at the closing ceremony, and those bay mittens, hm I wonder where I put em all...
