Sinclair gets the gold, finally...............
That team has some good players, but I bet a lot of them were inspired by Sinclair. After Fortius folded up tent, naming the facility Christine Sinclair Community Centre was a damn good choice.
Jessie Flemming is amazing when it comes to penalty kicks and the choice by the coach to replace Quinn with Julia Grosso in the second half was gold, literally. The goalkeeper for Canada. Can't say enough about her contribution to the team in these games. Simply outstanding. Without her, there would be no gold medal match.

Like Canada's goalie, Sarah Lee's mind games were on point before each heat in bicycle sprints. She's as intense an athlete as I've ever seen. She just won her second bronze, first was in 2012. That's 6 medals for HK, double their entire Olympic history
Oh shit you're right! I unfortunately missed the finals today but I've been watching the qualis for the last 2 days and Kelsey Mitchell has been GREAT to watch as well. So powerful
Funny when I google the event, the only finish it tells me about is the bronze because of geolocation
I watched part of it and it's just creepy and weird with an empty arena. I liked watching the athletes celebrate, but when the performances started, I bailed.
Too bad too, because from what I saw, it was a nice celebration of culture and performance, rather than the ostentatious displays some other countries do.

Even more empty because only a portion of the athletes got to stay for the ceremony. If your sport was scheduled to end early, you were sent home already. If you were eliminated earlier on, you were sent home. It was a kind of weird seeing so little people there.
Such a shame the state of hosting these games. All the venues looked amazing some of the road cycling races alone made me want to go to Japan and experience some of the more rural areas etc. Unfortunately I doubt they will even see much of a tourism boost because of the games due to the outside perception of them being a country full of unvaccinated people.
Japan in general seems to have a way of sorting things out but these games could very well be as much as a boon to Japan as Montreal was for Quebec
