Michael Woods, Canadian cyclist almost medalled. He was off like a little over a second on a 243 kms race with 4000 ft of elevation! Those athletes are beasts!
The mens triathlon was beast. I knew it was grueling but just found out the runners pace around 30 minutes for the final 10k run, AFTER the swim and the bike rice. Can barely keep a 30 minute pace for 5 k alone. Truly astounding what they're able to do. Finish was pretty good too with the lone pull-away.
Your able to keep a 15min pace in a 5k? Very impressive.

I don't think I'm well-versed in my pace terminology. 30 mins to run 5k . Whatever that works out to be. I don't think thats anything impressive. These guys swam across an ocean and biked stanley park 4X at breakneck speed then ran 10k. Still boggles my mind.
Thomas Daley finally gets his Olympic Gold in diving, edging the Chinese team by a single point. Another intense one right till the end.

Lol my terminology was messed. Perhaps I misread what you said. They were doing 10k in 30 minutes, so I took it you said you could keep that same pace for 5km. Meaning a 15 minute 5k. Which is crazy haha.
Canada wins against Japan in Mens Rugby to advance to the quarter finals. Then immediately we're up against New Zealand. I don't expect that to go well
Big props to the Tunisian swimmer on winning the gold medal in the men’s 400 m freestyle.
Ahmed Hafnaoui was the slowest qualifier and had to complete in the far outside lane of the Olympic pool. He barely qualified for the final by 14-hundredths of a second.
The 18 year old Tunisian was yelling like mad after winning gold. Heck, I would celebrate loudly too if I won a gold medal in that fashion.

These are the stories that make Olympics the Olympics ... like Eddie the Eagle or the African bobsled team. The favoured ones to win 3-4 golds ... well, it's a matter of seeing if they end up with 2, 3, or 4. But this guy ... full props!

And, people were dismissing the importance of the Olympics............. Gotta hand it to Japan for, against all odds, keeping the tradition alive. It's stories like this (Tunisian) that make the Olympics so special. The sacrifices the athletes make. I feel for those who trained for years only to have the event cancelled............
