Telus has some decent deals right now, $130 a month for high speed 300 and essential TV if you have fiber in your area

Might be able to get some AirPod pros tossed in from an inside deal. Hit me up if interested and I can shoot in a referral so price is locked in for negotiating etc.

I got a similar Fido deal 2 weeks ago at Crystal Mall which was and still is better than what's advertised on the Fido website.
also Pepper wireless. just wanted to point out that these small wireless providers can sweeten the deal

Vansterdam 11-25-2021 01:51 PM

I heard you can get the same fido deal at Aberdeen for 35

whitev70r 11-25-2021 02:36 PM

Any black Friday deals on Condos? 40% off?

mikemhg 11-26-2021 10:50 AM

Is it just me, but are the Black Friday Deals particularly bad this year?

Pretty lackluster from what I'm seeing here on majority of the sites I've frequented in the past here.

Black friday is a great way to waste money

If you have a single, specific item, that you want and it goes on sale, all to ya
But most people just buy shit for the sake of getting a deal. Then complain they cant afford a downpayment on a condo

Euro7r 11-26-2021 11:07 AM

When I look out my parents house window, see a lot of cars parked on the streets in the evenings now due to renters. I'm thinking to myself, wait, so your driving a $40-50K car and paying your landlords mortgage with $1500-$2000 a month rent, okay that makes total financial sense. Splurge on the liabilities to look good for whom? LOL. Funny enough the renters cars are more expensive than the landlords LMAO.

Maybe it's my thinking, wouldn't it be other way around. Build your asset aka, get own place first before splurging on liabilities.

Hondaracer 11-26-2021 11:13 AM

My mortgage broker always posts a meme along those lines somthing like you make payments on a Range Rover but you’re still paying a landlord etc

Payments aren’t the problem for most, it’s the Dow payment

you probably own everything you ever needed

Took the opportunity to pick up a some 1st-party Switch games and a couple Zelda handhelds for Shoppers Drug Mart bonus redemption event. If they had a PS5 in stock, I probably would've got that instead.

stuff I was looking for didn't go on sale FeelsBadMan
IE soundbar. Didn't see the Sonos on sale, but I did find the Samsung one for $700 off. YouTube rates it pretty high up with the Sonos, so I went with it. Sounds pretty good to my non-audiophile ears:fuckyea:

Isn't this how people normally shop?

I'm going to assume that your looking out a window in Vancouver. In that case the renters may be all about location. They gave up wanting to own because if they're owning, they'll end up in Mission. Co-worker bought a place recently, started looking in Vancouver, ended up in Langley because that's all he could afford. He hates his commute to work now.

Felt like I've been on the lookout for deals year round, there's nothing I really care to buy now.

hud 91gt 11-26-2021 07:50 PM

Bought new Haltech Elite…. Sigh… a keyboard for my iPad so I can do a little work when away. New phone plan and phone.

I've lined up today and they said new customers only... after 2 years it'll be 50$ for 12gb. Also checked for promotional deals for current customers and my current plan is already the best one out there unless I call in.

spoon.ek9 11-27-2021 08:05 PM

The trick they used when I signed my contract last black friday was to port you from your current Fido/Rogers account to a new one. You keep your ph# and everything.

Were you able to keep your same phone number?

What changed? Just your account number?

spoon.ek9 11-28-2021 08:52 AM

only account number changed

eclipseman 11-28-2021 10:46 AM

Just got the $35 Fido deal for my and my wife's account. 12GBs for 2 yrs. Did it over the phone and you'll have to ask for retentions if you are a current Fido customer.

the only time when i see this acceptable / or so i can comprehend is when you need a place to stay when you're building a new house.
my buddy rented a huge place during his transition to build a 3 M place..danggg

So I'm an existing customer and I called into Fido on Black Friday to complain about not being able to use the "Build Your Own Plan" function on their site. The agent literally said to me "hey I can just give you the 12GB for $40 plan, that's what everyone is asking for". So of course I said yes but I'm hearing it should have been for new customers only and now I'm reading it's only for 2 years??

Wife called right after me and she wasn't able to get the same deal despite having the same plan. Her agent told her she needed to be a new customer. What gives? I'm kinda scared to call in and confirm if my new plan has a 2 year price change limit lest the new agent I talk to realizes it was a mistake and renege my deal.

This is nothing new, the customer service roulette YMMV. The deal is for new customers only but yea depending on the agent you get in retention they could work some magic if they choose to.
