if it's anything like the 5th gen hiace petro i drove on the hwy, it can haul no problem once you get up to speed..obv passing on an uphill would be crazy

they have to use them for ambulances so they can't be absolutely terrible, even with aero probably worse than a loaf of bread lol

i saw one in vancouver the other month, gave him a thumbs up and a big grin...probably thought i was mocking him

My sister in law is a wanna-be hippie type, few years back they bought an older (like 80’s) Westfalia. I popped the hood/trunk whatever when they got it i was like wtf is this engine? Is this a beatle engine?!?!

It was like a 75HP 2.5L or somthing.. 3 of them drove across Canada and back through the states some how loaded with shit. I couldn’t believe they even made it up the coquihalla. My old truck 4.6L V8 felt like it was ready to blow every time I took it up with anything in the back lol

Ah, your sister must be the one that's always on a one lane road doing 50 with the pedal nailed to the floor and refuses to pull over.

Old domestic V8's are funny beasts... they're so massive, so inefficient, relatively torquey, almost impossible to kill... but every time you hear them working in anything of any size (ie: bigger trucks or those work vans) they just sound like something drowning/being pulled underwater from below... pure suffering lol

That sound when like an old Econoline van floors it and you hear the wind sucking in and that thrumming starting and it just barely fucking moves... sad sad sad hahaha

I saw a few around my area. I thought it was pretty cool. I thought about buying one for road/ camping trips. Boy was I shocked at what a 1980s+ VW Vanagon Westfalia cost. They must have a cult following or something lol. Cheapest one I saw with minor rust and okay condition was like $20,000. The newer 2001+ Vanagons are cheaper but not made by Westfalia.

Plus use like $20 worth of gas just to get to 60. I laugh every time I see some f150 floor it then just hit brakes again at the next red light. I'm like buddy guy chill you're the reason why gas prices are so high.

GTFO amber corner lenses.

As with every previous car I've owned, replacing amber corner lenses with painted always makes a massive difference. Looks 850% cleaner and better. There's a reason Porsche (and every manufacturer) always uses European models in their ads / promo shots...

Swap out your lenses kids (unless you're a masochist and somehow enjoy the reflector look I guess?).

No front reflectors on a dark coloured car, iono man. Thems rolling some dice, especially with the drivers around here.

I don't mind the amber reflectors on my car. If anything it's a safety thing because of the idiots on the road here.

I understand the safety point of view but I hate amber too, especially when its tacked on as an after thought "side marker" in the middle of the bumper. Though certain ambers look fine when they're built inside the headlamps... Here are my amber deletes

And amber delete on my prev car, swapped the headlamps to entire eurospec lamps

I've always liked the orange kinda breaking things up a bit... MR2s have big orange corner lights and some people change them to all white/clear it looks stupid to me. There's a JDM version that's kinda half and half that looks interesting too... don't really understand the hate.

Monotone is supposed to be clean? But it just looks boring to me.

not a huge fan of painted inserts - shave it or don't bother.

although i guess if you caught a VI it's a much easier quick fix

it does look better on the white cars

I won't complain haha. I've been driving without amber corners / reflectors since 2008 and haven't once had a cop mention it or notice it.

I'll concede that if you drive something that looks far less stock than my Cayenne -- ie. lowered, aftermarket exhaust, etc -- this would be a much bigger risk. But yeah, maybe I should've added a disclaimer about the technically-illegal aspect, and that there's a very slim chance you could theoretically run into the world's most observant and anal-retentive cop who might notice....

I mean, they're not required in Europe where roads are narrower and often drivers are far more maniacal. Given how reflective the OEM headlight housing is on the Cayenne, you'd have to be driving in the pitch black of night without headlights or DRL in order to somehow not see a full-size SUV.

Maybe would be a concern if you had to park on a narrow, unlit street every day... but I personally don't see much risk. I guess risk tolerance is an individual thing tho...

Shaving I don't think was an option for the Cayenne because the lens has built-in LED's and will trip a dash light if unplugged. By going with painted lenses (they have 19 coats of OEM paint to prevent light bleed) there are no warning lights and I kept the OEM amber lenses just in case. But yeah, shaving would probably be even more ideal for most cars.

YESSSS, good man, all 3 looks so much better. Huge huge improvement on the Macan (sick ride btw... turbo?).

I also agree about the amber lenses being acceptable when they're built into the OEM headlight housing.... my NSX is the first car I've ever owned that I didn't go with painted or clear lenses for that reason. Wish more manufacturers would go that route and save us the headache.

If someone drives into your 6ft tall x 16ft long SUV, it's not because it's missing a 2"x4" refector

Good times, good tradition

Unfortunately multiple sources have confirmed that the other traditional summer shows at Waterfront Park in North Van are no longer happening. the City says no bueno.
