Each dealer is only getting on to 2 cars a year and some dealers on the mainland have 30 plus people in line.

Badhobz 05-16-2022 07:52 PM

wayy too late man. I called a few dealerships the day of the launch event and they told me they werent even taking anymore orders. Openroad Toyota had a friggin lineup that stretched around the block on launch day. :yuno::yuno::yuno:

underscore 05-16-2022 10:10 PM

Probably too late to get one right away, but this car will be around for at least 3 years and they'll come up on the used market at some point.

68style 05-16-2022 10:14 PM

I refunded my Openroad Richmond deposit... was about 50th in line and they were being dicks... said fuck it, not interested anymore. Super unhappy how Toyota is handling this car.

They're pulling the same shit with the manual Supra too. 500 units worldwide.

There is a Supra A91-MT Edition limited to 50 units for Canada
1 year only production - 2023

You can still order regular Supra 3.0 Premium in Manual :joy

Oh I see thank you, the article I read was very misleading like it was only available with that special edition

Toyota GR Corolla Morizo Edition is even more hardcore

Quote:

The 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine is improved for the Morizo Edition, as it now makes 295 pound-feet of torque versus the regular GR Corolla’s 273 pound-feet. Horsepower remains the same at 300 ponies. The extra twist comes via re-tuned engine software, and peak torque is now made at 3,250-4,600 rpm versus 3,000-5,500 rpm. The six-speed manual is now a “close ratio” manual transmission, so expect shorter gearing versus the regular GR Corolla. Plus, Toyota says it also features shorter differential gearing for better acceleration “across the power band.”

Total weight for the Morizo Edition is 3,186 pounds, 106 pounds less than the Circuit Edition, but it comes at a great cost to utility. Toyota removed the rear seat from the car, and along with it came the rear door speakers, rear window regulators, rear wiper blade and accompanying wiper motor. It also features lighter-``weight and model-exclusive forged 18-inch wheels. And lastly, the same carbon fiber roof as is used for the Circuit Edition is used for the Morizo.

only 100lbs saved and only like 15ftlb of torque more? all the while narrowing the powerband? :heckno::heckno:

I think the power band is just as good, it's probably still making 273lubs @ 3,000-5,500 rpm but now there's a high peak than before.

But that 100lbs come at a great cost.

320icar 06-01-2022 08:25 AM

You could just remove the rear seats, buy some chassis stiffening and get a tune. Don’t fall for this marketing stuff :p

underscore 06-01-2022 08:33 AM

They're only making 200, so it doesn't matter anyways. We'll never see one, let alone buy one.

bcrdukes 06-01-2022 10:05 AM

Not sure which is more elusive. This or the Mercedes AMG One.

Oh, for sure if you're the type willing to do a bit of DIY and void warranty, there is so much more value in buying lower trim variants.

So can we sign up for this one?

edit: uh.. sorry, didn't see the above. Fail!

hud 91gt 06-06-2022 08:45 PM

These aren’t on the road are they? Spotted a hot little Corolla today in like a blue color. Looked fun.

Edit: just googled “blue Corolla gr”. That was definitely it.

I don't believe they are yet. It probably was an XSE hatch in Blue Flame? They look pretty sharp. If you Google "blue Corolla GR" those are mostly Photoshops/renders of the XSE hatch.

Manic! 06-06-2022 09:04 PM

No blue.

The Toyota GR Corolla's colors include white, black, and Supersonic Red for the Core trim, whereas the Circuit Edition replaces black with Heavy Metal.

underscore 06-06-2022 09:39 PM

They haven't released pricing or dates yet. They did announce *another* special edition, the Morizo Edition with some things deleted to save weight.

white rocket 06-06-2022 11:10 PM

^^Link to said *another* edition? I'll search but figured I'd ask while posting.

Morizo Edition will go to showrooms for display, auctions, and collectors, then maybe some youtubers. Doubtful the common folk would have the opportunity to buy one at MSRP, or might not even want to. Making it a dedicated two seater kinda kills it. Really cool with those front seats and the alcan trim but weight redux can be achieved for far less money. And it's just way easier to take the rear seats out for a track day and be able to put them back in to keep the functionality of the car intact. Props for the Do-Luck style brace back there. Haha. I can appreciate what it takes for a manufacturer to incorporate bracing into an interior and make it look factory. It's a bit luggage rack vibes but looks pretty beefy so it no doubt is adding some rigidity.

I'm still stoked for this car, in all trims, despite the seeming un-achievability of it at this point.

underscore 06-07-2022 08:57 AM

I forgot someone had mentioned it here, the main unique thing for the Morizo is the gearing. Everything else you can theoretically do yourself, and like you said then you can still put the seats back in if you need them. If the Morizo is registered as a 2 seater then legally you can't put rear seats in it.

More fancy versions to distract people is fine by me though, I just want a white Core with or without the Performance Pack diffs, nothing else.

Must be a demo / promo / review car?

Dealers said Circuit Edition wasn't coming until early 2023... regular GR in the fall

underscore 07-19-2022 02:54 PM

Probably the demo car that was down in Texas a few weeks ago.

trollface 07-19-2022 03:04 PM

Did anyone ever get a MSRP on this thing?
