2023 Honda Accord 11th Generation

https://www.motortrend.com/news/2023...st-look-review

Feels like Honda has been smoking the conservative crack lately, either that or they poached the previous gen champaign Toyota Corolla designers.

First it was the Honda Escape (Fit), and now this Honda Taurus (Accord)

On top of that, top trim 2.0T motor has been dumped in favor of the hybrid train setup

Honda's taking a page out of Audi. Make all the cars the same.

Sales: "Sedans aren't selling!"

Honda: "Engineers, make a new Accord, here's no budget... figure it out"

Sales: "This sedan is a piece of shit and worse than the last one nobody bought"

Honda: "Cut sedans from the lineup"

RIP Accord 1976 - 2025? Maybe a 50th anniversary badge in 2026 before it dies?

It looks fine? I don't think styling would be the death of this one, and typical Honda fashion they take one big stab at an out there styling and goes conservative for the next.

What I'm bummed out about is why it doesn't have a 2.0T hybrid instead. The top of the line Acuras are 3.0T so I don't think it'll step on their toes. I crossover from the top of Honda to the bottom of Acura seems like a good way to drive sales.

Watch the video/read the bottom half of the article... the Motor Trend editor is struggling to be generous about it, the faults (besides awkward styling which shows up more in the video) are quite obvious

Didn't love the 10th gen's look either but this looks worse than the 10th gen and it's huge now - 196". Can we just have normal sized cars please?

Not surprised that 2.0T is gone though - Honda didn't sell many and there's too much pressure on CAFE standards anyways. I am surprised that the hybrid isn't more powerful though to help close the gap a bit. Edit: I'd add that the 1.5T was pretty quick in this car as Car and Driver regularly got 0-60 times in under 7 seconds with it so the 2.0T was almost overkill for a family car. Hopefully the Hybrid is a bit faster though.

Stinger's a pretty big flop lol

US sales - they sold 7,073 of them of all 2022. Comparing to the K5 they sold 58,426

I think I see way more stingers here than k5. And the stinger was pretty pricey at over $50k

There are a lot of Stingers here. However, lower mainland =/= North American car sales.

If you lived in the lower mainland in the late 90's/early 2000's you would have thought the Integra nd Prelude were the top selling cars in North America.

It's clean and tidy -- it arguably looks better than the Civic, as well as the prev gen Accord. I can see how people would see it as boring even though I don't think of it that way.

But the car is just way too big now -- it's practically a land yacht, and the industry still has the guts to call it a "midsize sedan". I wish we can go back to something the size of the 1st gen TSX / CL9. For me, that was really the epitome of family sedan (although of course it could use more power).

If I am reading it right, the hybrid drivetrain is only available in the top trim? I know they are trying to nudge people towards buying the higher trim level (and therefore get the higher profit margin), but I don't like that move at all. The hybrid engine should have been at least made available in the mid trim level.

They did the same with the CRV as well. In Canada many buyers are opting for the higher trims so that's why.

In the US the CRV you can get the Sport model which would be a hybrid but for us only the Touring trim gets the hybrid.

If they want to make it more premium they should make it where it only comes in hybrid like the venza

Loved my 4th gen

Cars peaked in the 90s

Cars look so bloated and puffy now.. I guess for safety standards? They need to be like big balloons now
