I like how this thread has devolved into pissing habits and chicken lady fetishes 
back on topic, I've never been what anyone would consider rich. I probably noticed some friends struggling a bit financially when going out in my early 30's. whenever i did notice it, i'd just cover them for things, no questions or expectations because that's just what friends do. as long as they're appreciative and grateful i have no issues sharing what little "wealth" i have.
we live in an expensive ass city but that doesn't mean your daily costs need to be high. being in richmond, there's plenty of value for money if you look for it. seems like some of you eat like monsters but the best deal i can think of (for quite some years now) is a meal from bubble waffle cafe. decent food and a drink is included. even with recent price increases it's only $12.76 for a meal after taxes lol (given you order online for 10% off). if your portion control is good, you can easily split the meal into two because they give you so damn much. i often wonder how they even make a profit with the portion size and stamps towards free bubble waffles 
anyways, over the years i've learned to not compare myself to others when it comes to income. if i'm content with my normal pay or reaching for the stars with OT then i'm doing pretty good and no external pressures will change my opinion of myself. it's me against me and i like to think i'm doing pretty good given my personal circumstances.

There were 2 locations in Richmond starting in about 1992 and there's one over on the island around Duncan. When they stopped being a franchise they renamed to LA Chicken but kept making the same food.
Owners are Cantonese.

Not to talk about income disparity in the weird bullshit chicken thread, but if you feel it is pronounced at 40, it is going to be significantly worse at 50 and seriously wild at 60.
On average, every 10 years our stock portfolio is expected to grow 2.0-2.5x, and I expect real estate to grow 1.5-2.0x in the same time period. Throw in some modest leverage, reduce for taxes, and it means that every 10 years, I expect our family net worth to grow 2-3x.
Playing that math out, it means if you have a $500k net worth at 30, you have a $1.0-$1.5M net worth at 40, a $2.0-$4.5M net worth at 50, a $4.0M-$13.5M net worth at 60 and so on.
Those sound like wild numbers, but a $500k net worth at 30 is a professional couple who each had a 1BR condo and few RRSPs before they got married. Certainly isn't everybody, but it isn't Warren Buffett either.
The power of compound growth for people who actually invest early starts a ball rolling that you basically can't earn your way to catching up, and is why families that have some wealth to transition between generations end up SO MUCH wealthier in only 1-2 generations.

Just turned 40 so sounds about right and what I did in my mid 30's. If it wasn't for the pandemic with stocks and RE prices taking off to these levels, I don't think it would have been possible to reach those numbers though
