I've also had appreciative car owners text message me to say thank you (when I had pen and paper to leave a note on their car). To me, the reward is helping each other out and it builds up good karma; as lame as that might sound lol. I had one person compliment me on my handwriting too :lol

You’re absolutely right though, maybe i was (i still am kind of) bitter about ICBC jacking up my insurance 25% the year they changed to the “new system” cuz they no longer counted the Learner year as experience lol.
The other time I submitted a dash cam footage and got a letter for that, was easy enough. Both parties were there and i just got their emails and fwd to them.
Just the wait time on the phone made me reconsider calling in esp since it wasnt a claim on my own stuff.

One time i witnessed an old guy & his wife ram a Mazda 3 with his 90s corolla at Metrotown, left a mark on the rear bumper and pushed the car a few inches. They refused to give me their driver license info and left for the mall. I wrote a note on an old bus transfer and left it on the Mazda’s door, he texted me back and thanked me and asked if i was ok being a witness and i’m like sure. Some time later i missed a phone call from caller ID RCMP and never thought much about it, no VM. So i’ll never know what happened in the end lol. And too bad i didnt have a dash cam in 2013 (the photos are still on my phone lol)

I’ve tapped another guy’s bumper before and left a note. Both our cars were imperfect already and i didnt think there was any new damage but my conscience wouldnt let me go lol. He just texted me back no big deal whew

Badhobz 07-11-2024 05:05 AM

somebody scratched the front bumper of my ES (it could have been my wife or her cunty friend) but both girls denied it. OF COURSE THEY WOULD.

Luckily my precious precious hitlerbox is unscathed for now

SSM_DC5 07-11-2024 08:05 AM

No cameras to incriminate them?

68style 07-11-2024 08:12 AM

Where's the video of me very matter of factly telling you not to drive the ES thru a red light in New West ahahaha

Badhobz 07-11-2024 10:22 AM

It’s not red. It’s chinaman green.

wife did the same and he texted us back about fixing the rest of the shit on their already f'd up bumper :rukidding: :lol

ICBC asked the colour of our car (all other existing dmg didn't match our colour) so i assume they told the person to f off with fixing everything else. :smug:

Got my thank you letter from ICBC :fuckyea:

Hello (spoon.ek9),

Thank you for giving your name as a witness to the following accident.

Individuals don't always want to get involved and your time and information have been of great assistance in helping us reach a fair decision.

Again, thank you for your consideration and help.

Sincerely,

ICBC

red kryptonite 07-20-2024 03:00 PM

I like to think I’m pretty good about picking a less crowded parking spot, and this shit still happens. I guess I need to get use to full size vehicles are more prone to getting bumped.

People do suck

I had a hit and run on my Tesla recently.

My sentry didn't turn on because it was low charge. But my home security caught the car trying to parallel park between me and another car that had a one inch buffer front and rear.

The car made three marks on my rear bumper, I had the license plate, house address, and security footage from my home and ICBC says insufficient evidence. It's the only damn red car in the neighborhood.

Badhobz 07-20-2024 03:47 PM

wtf ?!! See icbc are just crooks.

Klondike 07-20-2024 08:40 PM

Someone nudged my buddy's Tacoma in the superstore parking lot and took off.

Luckily it just scuffed the PPF.

Cannot stress it enough, everybody needs to get a dashcam.
One hit and run and it's pretty much paid for.

Everyone's going to think, Yeah, as soon as a I get one, then no one will hit me anymore.
Well, good! Even better.

So you have the house address of the person that hit you? Did you knock on their door and confront them?

I've always been lazy about installing one. Usually get gifted one from overseas and they're.... not so great (and often by default in Chinese lol).

Any good recos for a decent brand locally? Not looking to break the bank but also want some good quality with good rep.

Badhobz 07-21-2024 08:07 AM

I’ve used the same Korean dash cam brand for over 5 years.

Thinkware.

I just buy their cheapest dash cam (f70) but it works well. I’ve installed it on all the cars in the family so that’s like 7 units in total and none of them have failed so far.
