Tried going to Costco in Richmond tonight around 8pm, hoping for a quick trip to grab a few items. As I approached the Great Canadian Way and Bridgeport intersection, I noticed the traffic light was out.

Four way stop at a major intersection in Richmond? :lol

Anyway, I made it through unscathed, got into the parking lot and noticed everybody was leaving. Turns out they were out of power.

As I was slowly making my way out of the parking lot, of course I saw two cars drive into each other in the intersection...

She then proceeds to merge onto Willingdon by McDonald’s (I seem to have a thing for this spot) and then cut me off trying to get back onto the merge Lane.. I finally speed up beside her where there’s 2 lanes and honk and give her a WTF look?!?!?

I then pass her and watch her cut off ANOTHER person trying to get around her completely fucking oblivious to her surroundings just doing whatever whenever Jesus fuck.. get off the road ffs.

Had the same thing happen there today too.. 35 out of the lot, didn't know how to enter the roundabout. Braked while in the roundabout as they didn't know they had the right of way while driving in the roundabout. They were at least smart enough to pull over under the Hwy 1 overpass and let the stacked up traffic behind them pass.

That's my preferred route too. Much quicker, unless you're stuck behind a 2nd driver going 40.

I'm seeing a lot of timid drivers on the roads lately going 35-45 max.

Razor Ramon HG 07-16-2024 11:10 PM

I don't know what's wrong with that area, but there seems to be a power outage around there pretty often.

This week is a complete shitshow for accidents, and we're not even halfway through it. These occurred in the last 12 hours:

https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2024/0...serious-crash/

https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2024/0...80-ave-closed/

https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2024/0...ighway-1-slow/

twitchyzero 07-17-2024 08:53 AM

traffic rebound from covid seemed quite apparent

population growth = congestion/construction = drivers getting impatient and apathetic?

also driving up north and some dedicated passing lanes were as short as 400m, up a hill..basically no chance if you're sub-300hp unless you were almost kissing their bumper just before the lane starts. Around there was a GLC or whatever coupe crossover thing with baby on-board sign pulled over, soon after that doing 40kph over traffic flow again lol. one positive thing i noticed were even the lifted coal-roll truck bros stuck to fairly reasonable speeds and passed within safe margins

Don't forget more drivers imported from umm...less safety conscious jurisdictions!

Man I'm on a roll with the sexist and racist takes today...Must be the goddamn heat bleh.

You're not wrong. A friend who is a licensing examiner mentioned that they were told from higher ups to let more things pass (aka make it easier)

Badhobz 07-17-2024 02:03 PM

I think that would be a fun job. To ruin kids hopes and dreams.

I wonder if I can yell at them for their shitty performance

ohh fuck that makes my blood boil. Instead of raising our standards because there's more hazards (other drivers) on the road let's just graduate everyone because...reasons?

Why thought?

They make more $ if they have to keep re-taking tests.

Hondaracer 07-17-2024 03:12 PM

Well just look at these crashes that have happened in the last few weeks

https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2024/0...dian-students/

Foreign national driving in the wrong fucking lane kills two international students

https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2024/0...sh-fundraiser/

International student dies TWO DAYS after arriving in Canada almost guaranteed to be driving with other international students

Just glad they are killing each other and not killing families of people who are actually competent drivers..

CivicBlues 07-17-2024 03:15 PM

Kinda cherrypicking...I mean also there's that one really high profile case of one guy killing 16 Canadians in Saskatchewan remember?

But yeah that's wild, what are the chances you go to another country thousands of miles away and crash your car into another Canadian?

Hondaracer 07-17-2024 03:21 PM

Never knew anyone driving the wrong way down a highway that went through the regular licensing process lol

Razor Ramon HG 07-17-2024 03:22 PM

There's a recent video going around reddit where an Indian woman learning to drive put it into reverse and just slowly goes backwards off a cliff, lol.

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/.../111070284.cms

That's honestly the most avoidable vehicle death I've seen in a while.

Hey tell him to get me in as part time examiner. I’d have so many great stories to tell everyday.

68style 07-17-2024 03:43 PM

You'd be fired after 1 day

Sample Google Review:

1/5 stars:
Would give 0 stars if I could, didn't care how I drove, stared at my tits the entire time, insisted that his lap was the best seat in the house, failed me and when I asked why stated that it was because I said that I don't like anal.

Badhobz 07-17-2024 03:45 PM

Who told you my secret plan ?

Razor Ramon HG 07-17-2024 03:45 PM

Not the worst review I've seen

:ifyouknow:

donk. 07-17-2024 03:45 PM

We need a bitch/moan/whine thread, maybe RS male/female ratio will increase for once

Making money through retests or making money through increasing premiums from accidents

This thread needs a title change.

Speaking of bad drivers, anyone see this clip from UBC last week? M4 GTS racing, losing control and crashing.

I've heard stories going back to before I was born, it's nothing new.

Call me an old fart, but I honestly think the average car is too fast now. 15 years ago I almost died in a 2005 Corolla because I thought I could accelerate past a truck, but fuck was I wrong. Now you have cars with 250+ hp, and driver abilities have not caught up with what the average car can do now.

And again call me old, but I think Teslas play a huge role in this. There's no doubt there's exponentially more Teslas in the lower mainland than elsewhere. You give the average shitty driver a car that can get to 60km/hr in a punch and suddenly you have everyone thinking they're Zhou Guanyu or...whoever the fuck was the last Indian F1 driver.

Vancouver is congested enough that it's almost impossible to go fast during the day, but also not so congested that assholes don't bother trying. Add that to the generally shitty level of driving abilities, the amount of retards who can't think remotely critically, and the large number of inconsiderate assholes who think their time is worth more than others, and you have what we have.

People driving in HOV lanes cutting in and out over solid lines, complete chaos at roundabouts, going straight through turn lanes, 7 cars turning left after the light turns red, Uber/amazon drivers parking wherever they want, truckers that have no business being behind any wheel, the list goes on.
