Ya what a cunt. I’m surprised you’re not currently an only child.

Non of the the pirate ships float. Only bloats with a specialized one piece hull can float and I think the life rafts.

I've got one of the boats that can float, you have to have a weird weighted brick in it for ballast for it to work properly.

Without the ballast it'll tip. I used to pile shit on until it would sink in the bathroom sink.

as someone who hasnt touched lego in like 30+ years, after you guys build it if you don't want to display it, do you just take it all apart piece by piece and put it back in the box?
doesnt that get impossible to sort and find the pieces when its time to rebuild it, especially for the big kits?

yes you should separate it if possible, if not, VERY HARD, next to impossible to rebuild.

wife tossed sets of minecraft stuff in a big box, i told her she's screwing any chance of the kids rebuilding anything.

Back then, as long as you didn't mix sets together, it wasn't that hard to rebuild because piece counts weren't that high (>1000 pcs), and the pieces themselves were pretty distinct and easy to tell apart.

Nowadays, you have sets with several thousand pieces, and so many specialized parts. Imagine a single set with a mix of these pieces:

Still re-buildable, once you get used to building modern LEGO sets...

Other strategies include re-sorting the pieces into ziplock bags before storing away, or separating the pieces by section (e.g. the big Technic cars are built in sections, such as chassis, front suspension, rear suspension, etc.).

I'm dying over here. A bunch of people think the rapture is happening today or tomorrow. They are making video's on tiktok on how to prepare for it. One of them said her family is trying to avoid taking shits. Because just imagine you are taking a shit and it starts. You are being pulled into heaven and in mid air you are dropping logs. You get to heaven your pants are down and you have shit stains on your ass legs and pants.

Some people have sold there cars and other possessions.

The old LEGO sets never floated. i was very disappointed when i put my pirate ship into the bathtub and it sank instantly.
Literally why I went into engineering!!

We are similar retards. I also took them apart immediately afterwards, messed around with them, and then moved on to free-building something else (usually some kind of spaceship type thing). I liked having to improvise when I didn't have the obvious / enough pieces to meet my needs. I also liked smashing stuff into them, and then reinforcing them for better resilience the next time.

In grade 4 I built a medieval castle of my own design that could swing open from the middle so you could see inside. Some of my classmates accused me of lying because they didn't believe I built it myself. Slow motherfuckers.

Do you guys remember the Lego Digital Designer tool? It let you design your own lego kits and box. The CAD software generated instruction booklets based on your build order.

Then you ordered it and it showed up as a legit looking lego kit!

I threw this together around 2010:

I would take it apart completely. Makes storing a lot easier than if it was thrown into a bin.

I had/have the same pirate ship, the hull is multiple pieces so it won't float. The one I have that does float is the 4011 Cabin Cruiser from 1991.

The hull is one huge piece and it's hollow (?)

I did that once with my big Tie Fighter, so all the pieces were grey and black. It took a loooooot longer to build it the second time. Ideally you want to disassemble it properly and split the pieces into bags in the same sections that the instructions are split so it's easier.

Oh my fuck. I HAD THIS!! I used it as a base for a ton of armored ship builds, and played with it lots in the bath tub.

Holy shit, that's nostalgic as hell.

And yeah I think it was hollow. It bubbled from those holes when you put it under the water haha.

I think the inner piece comes off so you can have just the hull with no deck.
