So i caught this guy sleeping at work again. Im 99% sure he's been sleeping at the office for the past a half a year if not longer. We called HR on his homelessness but im not sure what came out of it.
I dont get it, he makes at least 120k a year and he doesnt look like hes on drugs. Hes high functioning. Plus he's white, so i really dont get why he doesnt have $ for a proper place to live. He's divorced and he's probably paying for child support but still, if you cant survive off 120k, youre doing something wrong.
I told him i wont rat him out but he's gotta vacate the office earlier as people will eventually find out he lives in the office. The hell do i do with this? all the cunts at work are uncomfortable with him living here. I dont give a shit, but the women are going to start some shit for sure.

If he's not making a mess or doing something that affects my life I could give a shit where my coworkers sleep. He hasn't given you a reason why he's sleeping in the office when you confront him?

Lots of workplaces/towers have a common small work out place with shower/change room.
One time, a $70/yr fee would grant me access to the gym & shower in the tower of my office.

yeah we have showers and facilities at the office, and hes not stinky, but there's been a few times when the girls at work come into the office at like 10pm cuz they "forgot something" and found him sleeping... they report that shit to me, so i got no choice but to tell HR.
I dont care either, but i got a feeling these cunts give a shit.

Waaaay back in my university days, I had a (grad student) TA where I was pretty sure he was sleeping in his office full time. It's one thing for TAs to be stuck living in their offices bcos their professors are working them to death, but this guy just seemed like he was broke and stuck in a bad place in his life at that point. His personal hygiene was a mess, and over the course of the semester, the smell (from poor hygiene) in his office seemed to have gradually worsened.
TA offices were supposed to be shared space between the different grad students / research assistants that were assigned to that space, so I had no idea how the guy was able to hog all that space for himself. Maybe the smell just drove his other office mates out?
In Badhobz's case, if it has already been previously reported to HR, and HR didn't really do anything, I dun think there is too much more you can do about it for now. I also tend to agree with Mark that if he isn't making a mess, or stinking up the office like my old TA was, I would just let him be. But if he crosses those lines, then I would definitely go back to HR and press them on doing something about it.

First of all, it's a health and safety issue. So if someone presses, then everyone is F-ed.
120k after taxes you should still be pulling in 80k in taxes cash. Then you gotta pay 4 k in child labor. leaving you 4k. Now, in a perfect world, that would EASILY cover bach. rent + car + food. Assuming you've sold your place with wife, then that you don't have to worry. But if you're trying to buy our your wife's apartment, and they then ALSO took your car.. etc....
Things can start going downhill fast. Regardless... as long as you have a roof over, you should be doing pretty ok.
Regarding HR, you can get fired really quickly and they can quickly revoke his pass and deny entry. I bet 50% of his car are all this cloths.
If you're BFF to him, get him to find a place to live that's cheap and provide a good referral letter to find a rental (given the great market right now).

aye youre right my brother. I was worried that we all might get into shit, thats why i told HR a few months back but obviously they didnt do anything about it (at least not from what i can see). Its probably a good idea to start revoking peoples swipey cards at night, ill go ask security. thats a fantastic idea and might solve this problem by itself.

Speaking of homeless people and issues relating to the homeless on private property, this is a story that co worker told me a few years ago.
This story has a shitty ending for some people. -appropriate for the name of this thread. 
Anyways, a co worker said that two security guards kept finding huge piles of turd and drug needles inside a downtown Vancouver parkade near West Cordova and Seymour Street.
They got sick and tired of getting staff to clean up the mess. Therefore, one day, they kept a close eye on their CCTV to try to find out which homeless person was taking dumps and putting drug needles on almost a daily basis in one of these parkades.
Two security guards caught a homeless red handed as he was about take a dump inside a parkade.
According to my co-worker, they take the homeless guy and literally beat the "shit out of him".
This homeless guy reports the assault to some advocacy rights group in Vancouver.
Advocacy rights group employee contacts the manager of the security guards for that particular parkade.
Manager reviews the security video footage of the two security guards beating up the homeless guy.
Both security guards are fired.
A shitty ending for both security guards. 
Some of these homeless people know where to find help if they get beaten up.

a) he let me stay here (you), you know about this.. you didn't report.. you're also accomplice..
b) If he slips, falls, assault, gets sick and hey, if he dies... then you're really F-ed on insurance
c) we had to fire people who doing the hokey pokey after hours at work, we had people stealing toilet paper (not joking - had 2 or 3 chats an eventually had to fire), and the worse part was stealing computer products to make a buck... Took mice / monitors / then PCs / older laptops etc...
No ones wants to go down that rabbit hole and being investigated why IT is losing PCs, and why inventory is going down. (We had someone who used these) 
We started seeing increase of 200% on consumption, turns out a dude was opening 50 of these each day and eating cereal since they took away milk and 2% in carton. I know...
I just don't want to get in trouble and lose my job - you mean you knew about this for a year and was reported and you didn't do anything? F-ed that would suck if that's on my file.
The chick complaining, just ignore and revoke. The dude, give him a heads up etc...

I have thought about the milk package thing. We had milk in the company fridge, but sometimes you just run out. I stared at the packages for a good 10 seconds before deciding it was not worth it.

I was partying with some buddies in Van on Saturday. ordered I paralyzer from a bartender. They had no idea how to make it so I had to explain it to them. They had no milk so they used fckn oat milk and instead of Cola they used soda. Charged me $25. This drink was invented in Canada in the 80's for fck sakes.

Some companies provide meals as part of their incentives for people to work for them.
The alternative is that people may bring their breakfast, lunch, or dinners to eat at work. This can't be something new.
Or another possibility is people who eat at work do it as an act of defiance. "Fuck you, employer. I'm eating on company time!"
