Wilkins just got released from the Raiders for just kissing a dude on the forehead ffs
Part of my post was sarcasm, but there is some truth there as well. | I guarantee the kiss was not the worst thing Wilkins did to his teammates lol. That's just what got out. He was known as a creep going back to his highschool playing days

League news about implementation of a playoff salary cap for the 2026-2027 post season: https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...p-this-season/
Long-term injured reserve ploys are no more.
The NHL and NHLPA agreed to bump up the implementation of a playoff salary cap in time for the 2026 post-season, NHL insider Frank Seravalli reported on Tuesday.
A post-season salary cap was agreed upon as part of the latest collective bargaining agreement, which is set to kick in for the 2026-27 season.
However, the sides came together to enforce the salary cap immediately as part of a rolling enactment of some new rules.
In the past, teams have stashed players with significant injuries on LTIR until Game 1 of the playoffs when the cap disappeared. The move raised suspicion as it allowed teams to backfill that player's salary in a trade, while the player often seemed to return right in time for the post-season.
Last season, with Matthew Tkachuk and his $9.5 million cap hit on LTIR, the Florida Panthers added defenceman Seth Jones and forward Brad Marchand ahead of the trade deadline. Tkachuk returned for Game 1 of the first round.
The new rule requires playoff teams to dress a lineup of players whose salaries combined do not surpass the cap for each playoff game. Players who are injured or healthy scratches do not count against the playoff cap.

oh wow, changes being implemented this year (1 year early)
-no double retention on trades
-no more accrued cap
-trading for players mid season does not pro-rate their cap anymore
-no more paper transactions, players must be physically sent to the AHL team
-max LTIR benefit is $3.8 mil, regardless of the player's cap hit (i think?)
along with the playoff salary cap, i think we're going to see a lot less trades.

they also accrued all that cap space and did.... absolutely butt fuck nothing with it
new rule means players sent down actually have to play at least one game before being sent back up. either way, having them close by in abby is a win.

It would of been great if it was a good season but why make moves when there is no point.

with these new rules preventing teams from stacking up for the playoffs, i think it'll be Florida vs Edmonton finals again.... with Edmonton losing the 3rd time, and then McDavid taking his talents to Florida as a free agent afterwards |

Wow, Petey bulked up during the offseason.
He told reporters that he added six kilos (13 pounds) of muscle during the summer. https://dailyhive.com/vancouver
-from the article:
Pettersson had a good summer in the gym, too.
The 6-foot-2 centre has bulked up.
“I added six kilos (13.2 pounds) of weight,” Pettersson revealed. “I just tried to add some muscle. Be ready to be myself again out there, and I feel confident that I will.”
“I feel good. I had a long summer of training.”
Pettersson was officially listed at 176 pounds last season, meaning he likely weighs around 190 pounds now. That’s nearly 30 pounds heavier than when he was drafted in 2017.

I thought the most someone can reasonably expect to gain a month (of muscle) was 1-2lbs... how the fuck he put on 13lbs in 3 months?

As a pro athlete with millions in the bank, I imagine he had all the resources necessary to accomplish it. Total focus for 3 months on just training. All meals prepared professionally (or by his wife, who's apparently posting lots about cooking). If I had zero other obligations other than training for that long, I'd put on some muscle too lol.
Eat, train, shit, sleep, repeat.

It's rampant in professional sports that athletes are taking something, at the very least in the offseason. You'd be nuts to think a player being paid millions isn't looking to utilize using a chemical advantage, especially given their access to these boutique compounds that are available. These guys aren't taking Dbol and Tren
For Petey, 13lbs isn't outlandish. I doubt he's put on 13lbs of pure muscle, almost guaranteed a portion of that weight is fat/water. For someone of his height and frame, and likely minimal heavy weight training in his career prior, 13lbs would be pretty easy to pack on in 3 months. Newbie gains are always great.
It's not like he's Aaron Donald, a guy who is maxed out for his frame, and where putting on 13lbs of muscle would be pretty insane.

The NHL and NHLPA have agreed that the five players acquitted in the 2018 London sexual assault trial will be suspended until Dec. 1, although they will have the opportunity to sign with NHL teams as soon as Oct. 15, Sportsnet has learned.
According to multiple sources, part of the agreement is that the players have given up their right to appeal.
There is precedent for this. Without an agreement, commissioner Gary Bettman would need to hold a hearing and make a ruling. If the union or players disagreed, everyone risked the possibility of an uncertain and/or lengthy arbitration grievance process. Shane Pinto’s 41-game suspension in 2023 for violating the league's sports wagering policy went through a similar negotiation.
Michael McLeod had been charged with one count of sexual assault, plus one count of being a party to the offences. Dillon Dube, Cal Foote, Alex Formenton and Carter Hart were each charged with one count of sexual assault. All pleaded not guilty to their charges when the trial opened in April.
The five players were acquitted of all charges on July 24 by Justice Maria Carroccia after a two-month trial in London, Ont.
After the verdict, the league stated the players — none of whom have contracts with NHL teams — weren’t eligible to play while it reviewed the judge's findings. Previously, the NHL had said it would let the charges go through the legal system before deciding about the players’ eligibility.

Dube back to flames?
I think Ottawa still has the rights to Formenton?
The rest of them aren’t good enough to take the hit for.
