Well fine if they tuned the chassis but it’s still just a VW parts bin special. The soul of the car, the engine, is the same as my hitlerbox that’s half the price.

Yeah 911 pricing is nuts & Ferraris are now on discount.
Not much incentive to stay with Porsche unless you really intend to daily it.

$500 lease is great but it’s loud, rough, not that dynamic, and controls are pretty doggy.
Sure, Base Macan isn’t a spring chicken but it’s a pretty big siffeeence in end result.

all these new cars are crap. its just how much you can stomach for the price you are paying. 500 bucks for hitlerbox is cheap compared to the 1500 they want for a lousy macan. is it 3x better than the hitlerbox? fuck off. once again pig nose m3 takes the cake here for 1600 a month, zero down, and with a manual transmission

Their criteria is: if I whip this down Spanish banks or up the sea to Sky at like 50kmh over speed limit does it feel natural and eager.
Their criteria is not: how is the weight transfer, liftoff oversteer on Cup 2s.
I’d put a Macan S in the rough range of a C43/S5.

It’s brilliant.
Either way, it can perform better while riding softer than GLC43/63, X3MComp and more engaging than C43/S5.

I mean, ultimately as the driver, are you capable enough to hustle a 4500lb SUV through the twisties? I can do it in my 5800lb X5 with a car full of people and luggage with a bike rack. The vehicle will deal with it with it's 275F and 315R tires. Most modern German SUVs will easily do 50 over on the highway in North America.

My favorite topic, porsche bashing much to bcrdukes dismay.
I struggle to see the value proposition of the cayenne compared to the X5. Interior room is smaller, you get a shitty VW V6 unless you splurge for the V8, you have to pay for options to get to the standard equipment of the X5 with the A+ B58 inline 6. And more expensive in price and service cost.
“But it handles better, like a porsche!” It’s an SUV not a track car.
“It’s quality german engineering” it’s made in slovakia former USSR state comrade (Yes im aware the X5 is made by bob in south carolina)
Either you buy the cayenne for the porsche badge snobbery or to get an GT3 allocation.

Ok but the X5 is really sloppy … even an Escalade has sharper steering and body control.
Yes the X5 has higher capability but imo it shouldn’t drive as soggy as it does.
You’d really have to get M50 with the active sway bars and air suspension.

Dukes HATES suvs in general so im sure you can bash away at these macans and cayennes all you want.
Frankly the only reason i was looking at a macan was for the badge. Spy balloon is sick of these ultra reliable lexusususus and i think its time for her to pretend to enjoy german chassis dynamics when in reality its just a nice boost in badge whoring. Quote:

Vague off center steering, a lotta body lean.

no way the base one cant out-handle an Escalade bro. you smoking something strong.

Of course the M is better and the 40i has higher limits.
I did not say outhandle, I said Escalade has better steering & body control than a 40i.
Before you add all sorts of sway bar, air suspension wizardry; is the core product satisfying to steer and turn?
Also
capability != feel/body control
capability is geometry, mass, mechanical grip; can capture in a single number.
Handling feel and body control is transient & much harder to measure;
not 1 number, programs have like 100 different targets to optimize for.

Me too stupid to understand that mumbo jumbo above. But honestly you give me a base x5 with the b58 (mandatory) vs a lame ass cayenne and I’ll take the bimmer every time. For the seats alone. BMW seats are excellent. Porsche can eat a dick with their options and gay ass seats.

40i drives sloppy as fuck even if it’s faster and turns better.
u turn the wheel and there is no added weight. Rolls worse than Escalade. B58 lags at part throttle.
Don’t like Cayenne either.
You’d probably find me in an Escalade V or Lucid Gravity if I had to haul annoying kids around

I will continue to drive my Boxster until I blow my engine or transmission, or I bin it into the wall at Turn 8 at Mosport and write it off. And while most people on here will cringe, I will over rev my motor on track days and peg the DME to trigger the overrev limiter. I’ve exceeded the DME’s overrev limits and its sits at 65,535 and it is stuck there, so suck it, Porsche fan boys.

At least with the dealerships here in Vancouver and Richmond, they treat their customers very well -- it's just that in doing so, they charge you an arm and a leg for any work done on the cars.

The moment you are out of warranty and you realize, "Oh, I actually didn't need this..." or you need parts for a DIY, and stop playing their games, you are dead to them.
Vancouver's dealership options are limited and the market is saturated. You have three in the GVRD - Porsche Centre Vancouver, Richmond, and Langley. There's Victoria and Kelowna but they are out of territory. Then you have a small handful of independent shops. Some are good, some are bad, and some just have no idea what they are doing.

It’s usually in highway cruising then passing, it’s pretty sleepy. The Durango/Escalade drop a couple gears and the V8 gets to work.
